That would be a good batting average for a pitcher!

Not even close. It is 45.0, maybe 72.0 Only 8 runs were given up in the 1st inning and not sure if all base runners were charged to him. Also, don't know if any errors occurred while he pitched.

Mainieri leaving Pitchers in waaay to long before pulling them, I'm shocked.

All runs were earned and he only pitched 1/3 of an inning. era was 216 for this game only. Obviously this will average out over the course of the season and I suspect his era will end up being very low.

he got one out. He gave up 8 earned runs. 8 x 27 = 216

I count 5 grammatical errors in the one run-on sentence. That’s pretty bad too.

To be fair, you would at least think your Friday night guy can get at least 3 outs

No Pitcher should still be on the mound down 5-0 bases loaded with 1 Out, it leaves the offense in too big of a hole. LSU rallied and cut it to 1, but Paul at his best gives up 11 runs in the 4th to kill any chance of a comeback.

Stand corrected. Didn't see the first inning and thought he at least got 3 outs. You are right and I am wrong.

Yes, 1/3 Inning from your Ace is terrible, but sometimes pitchers don't have it, for me get them out of there before they get shelled.

You’re shocked that the coach tried to let out Friday guy get out of the 1st inning on his own?

If I'm being brutally honest, I really like Hill and understand why he would be a top 5 pick in the MLB draft...but Marceaux is our ace.

1 out, bases loaded & he's getting shelled, down 5. He obviously wasn't close to his A Game.

Of all the times to make this comment, you might have picked the stupidest one possible.

So when should Paul have started to get someone warm? Right at first pitch?

If he is your Friday pitcher, you should have more confidence in him than any other pitcher on the team. He absolutely should be left on the mound until it’s ugly in the first inning of the ballgame. Sometimes it takes an inning for a pitcher to settle in. Today not so much.

This has worked for us much more often than not. How many times did Lange get beat up in the 1st and then hammer out 6-7 beautiful innings? CPM has confidence in his starting pitchers like nobody else in the SEC. That's huge in recruiting these kids.

Today was an anomaly. Hill will be just fine.
