High octane LSU offense may be more reality than fantasy in 2018

Predicting that Ensminger will produce a high octane LSU offense in 2018, may be much less fantasy, and much closer to reality.

Consider this, LSU is loaded with 5 star and 4 star talent at the WR position, and word is LSU's QB Burrow excels in the medium range passing game, so it doesn't seem like a stretch to envision the Fighting Tigers of LSU becoming the Flying Tigers of LSU.

Ensminger may seem like small potatoes to some LSU fans, these same fans mockingly point to his current $800,000 a year salary at LSU, but this may be the year he makes such fans look very foolish in doing so.

Just a little history. Ensminger's been a part of some of LSU's highest scoring offenses as a player, and highest offensive yards by a player, as LSU's coach. Ensminger has really seen and been a part of it all, powerhouse running and high octane passing offenses

During Ensminger's playing days at LSU, maybe if former LSU coach Charlie Mac had leaned more on the passing instead of restraining it whenever he faced Bryant's Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU would have won a few more of those encounters, Mac seem to always become too conservative against Bama.

In 2018, Ensminger is not under any such restraints, and he knows where the majority of LSU's offensive talent is located, it's not hard to envision what the majority of LSU's first, and second down plays will be.

The Flying Tigers of LSU welcomes you to Death Valley!

10-2 regular season or better. Less is failure.

I sure hope you're right. I love a throw-first philosophy. It's very exciting and with a good mix and lots of creativity, you can keep defenses on they heels! The blueprints that immediately come to mind are Clemson and Oklahoma.

Are you positive that E won't be under any restraints? What makes you think he will have free reign to run the offense?

If Joe Burrow doesn’t excel this year then I will deem our QB room cursed.

All signs point to where the LSU offense is headed, the recruitment of all these 5 star receivers and QB transfer to LSU, they're not coming to LSU to watch LSU QB's hand the ball off.

And there's this. Orgeron trust Ensminger immensely more than anyone else with a free reign of the LSU offense. Coach O, unlike Miles or Mac, isn't dedicated to any single philosophy on offense, he just wants to win and remain LSU's head coach!

Literally no one but you has brought up his salary as a talking point.

Well heck, if that's all it takes, call up Timmy Chang. We might be able to get him for even less.

Well we have had stud WRs before and still mainly run the ball. What makes you think because we are recruiting 4-5 star WRs we will be a pass first offense?

OP is doing nothing more than stating his opinion and calling it a reality. Sorry, but I've heard LSU, Miles and Orgeron, state we were turning the corner, changing the offense, getting the right pieces in place and all we did was run it up the middle.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Ensminger says the WRs are the strength of the offense and the offense will feature them. O says we're going to be 50/50 run/pass. They don't fully know what they're going to do. They'll just make it up as they go along.

If you think the 2018 LSU Tigers will be more of a running team, not a passing one, you're delusional. This isn't Miles' offense.

In all seriousness, I hope this offense turns some heads.

Prior to the first day of practice YOU have our offense figured out. I have doubts, but for the sake of argument let’s say you are correct.

So we move from a predictable run first team to a predictable pass first team.

If YOU have it all figured out, don’t ya think opposing DC’s can figure it out and defend against too?
