Clark Lea's classy response to Vanderbilt getting left out of the playoffs.

LINK

quote:

"We happened to be on the wrong side of that in this moment, but look, that’s no one’s fault except our own. We had our opportunities and we didn’t do enough. We are not victims in this process. Our ownership is in coming up short," Lea told reporters.

NCAA CFP selection committee doesn’t deserve a classy response. They have totally f’d up the playoff selection process. You have lower ranked teams in James Madison and Tulane with cupcake schedules getting in and teams like Vandy, Notre Dame, and Texas that are higher ranked with significantly harder schedules left out. This is not the 12 best FBS teams in the country. I thought this country was done with DEI hires.

Tulane and JMU being in has nothing to do with the selection committee. They're just following the rules that all the conferences agreed to.

“ One could argue that Notre Dame has more reason to be miffed given the Fighting Irish's résumé, but Lea's Vanderbilt squad will get to play one more game to cap off their thrilling campaign. Notre Dame, out of what sure looks like pettiness, will not.”

I think the two losses of Vandy are stronger than the whiny Irish’s losses

Did the committee have Vandy in the top 10 in every other ranking and then drop them for no discernible reason on the final day of rankings? Easy to be “classy” when you knew for the last 6 weeks you weren’t getting in.

Notre dame had no reason to be in the top 10 in the first place. Loss only 2 hard games they played, then ran weak arse schedule. They live off the past and their name, time for them to join a confrence like the rest of the teams and quit thinking they are superior to everyone else.

Then the conferences are run by imbeciles.

Time for top programs to break free from the NCAA clown show and the conferences/unions/cabals and go out on their own.

But no one has the balls to do that

Correct. For the life of me, I can’t understand this sudden white knighting for the retarded committee and dumb format that’s gets us two G5 teams who have no business being there.
Most of all, it’s crazy how many people are cool with Bama getting yet another gift.

That’s the problem I have with this whole thing. The initial ranking had ND 10, Vandy16 and Miami 18. FF to the final rankings and Miami is 9, ND is 11, and Vandy is 14

None of these 3 teams had a loss since the initial ranking. How does Miami jump 9 spots while Vandy only goes up 2 and ND falls a spot.

Vandy was more deserving than several teams

Alabama is the “DEI team.” Tulane and JMU at least won their respective conferences and didn’t lose 3 games, including a blowout loss to Florida State. If the CFP really wants to do the playoffs right, then expand to 24, seed the top 10 with conference champions, then seed the next 14 at large. Every league does it this way except FBS.

The postseason shouldn’t have shite to do with who the “best” teams are. You should have to earn your way into it in the regular season. Alabama getting in is the biggest DEI bullshite since that black woman sat her arse on the bench of the Supreme Court of this land.

All of the Power teams AND Notre Dame agreed to these rules. They literally have themselves to blame.

If it makes you feel better ND didn’t deserve to be in the top 10 the whole time, and you should’ve known that.

Americans in 99.9% of sports: “WE LOVE THE UNDERDOG”

JMU and Tulane make the playoffs: “OMG THIS COUNTRY HAS GONE TO shite. I THOUGHT WE WERE DONE WITH DEI”

They have no control over this part. The 5 highest ranked conference champs are guaranteed a spot by the by-laws of the committee. Being upset at this particular committee for JMU and Tulane being in is the same thing as being upset at last year’s committee for ASU and Boise getting byes. The rules stated both situations and outcomes, not the committee.

Why are people so dumb?

no, if they really wanted to do this right, they would contract the playoffs down to a max of 8 teams.

Teams with 3 and 4 losses don't need to be in at all.

just because every other league let's scrubs into their postseason doesn't make it right.

The way it’s set up now, it’s basically an 8 team playoff, there is just a play-in to determine who gets the 5-8 spots.
