I’ll agree that conditioning is a concern. However, the Bovines will end up being the best offense we play this season. Their QB/WR corps is elite. Oh and this was the SECOND game of the season!!

Calm your tits.

Agreed. We beat a top 10 team on the road. Who wouldn't cramp on a 19 play drive.

People are shortsighted in a lot of ways. Clemson last year couldn't stop A&M in there stadium but they still had a good defense. It's a good team we faced. The coaches will make adjustments.

I'm with you. Don't understand all the panic considering a top ten road win in a hostile environment in just our second game. Everybody needs to calm down.

Some people here have the deep need to bitch about something. It's just the way it is.

This thread seems to miss the point that people (myself included) are making. I don't think anyone is being short sighted, and I don't agree with the OP calling everyone "chicken littles".

And the reason for that is because we are talking about the game plan being so passive. You're talking about making adjustments down the road, but what about making adjustments IN GAME, last night? That's what bothered me. The missed tackles aren't really excusable, as that is a basic. Yes, they started cramping, but the missed tackles started from the beginning of the game. But I can get passed that. It was the lack of adjustments that really irked me.

Long term, I don't believe that last night was indicative of the kind of defense LSU will have this year, and it is most certainly not indicative of our talent level. Aranda has to do better than what he did last night. Our offense is too good for our defense to play back on it's heels. They've finally got support from the offense, so this is the time to be aggressive.

it is fine until we face Bama, A&M, and Florida. D was suspect last year. D-Line was manhandled last night - no pressure, no hurries, sloppy tackling, and irrelavant.

I disagree Apu Ika didn’t play at all which means his foot injury is a concern and Lawrence didn’t go back in the game because of his ankle. If both this injuries factor in later in the season we are pretty fricked on a thin d line.

Orgeron said he was concerned about the defense's performance after giving up 530 yards of total offense, including a 19-play, 86-yard drive by Texas in the third quarter. "We've got to get it fixed," he said. "We're not going to win a whole bunch of games giving up 38 points per game."

Coach O disagrees.

Ok, I'll admit I'm a little chicken little over the DL and the play calling.

The DL didn't get any pressure on SE and when UT wanted to run up the middle, they could. But no pressure on QB was concerning. Granted UT has a serious OL and were superb at pass protection.

But I'll calm down and wait and look for the improvement. Im actually happy with the secondary in one on one. Stingly looked great and after he knocked that pass down one on one, they stopped throwing at him and picked on Fulton, which held in very well.

At least we have an offense that can go out and over come a struggling defense.

I like the way Joe Burrow put it--the defense bailed the offense out in the first half with the two goal line stands, and the offense bailed the defense out in the second half--teams do that.

The issue is the front struggled to get a pass rush last season and had spots where they were out-physicaled (ex, Bama, UF, and the parts of the UGA game when they committed to the run)

Yes it was very hot last night. Yes Texas was able to sustain some long drives in the second half. But last night wasn't just a complete abberation. We've seen this front get manhandled before.

Absolutely be excited about the win last night. But you can also recognize a weakness from last season might still be there
