quote:

Orgeron is an outstanding recruiter, but college football doesn't have a waiver wire like the NFL. He just can't pick up discarded linemen from other schools.

quote:

He can't lay hands on running back Derrius Guice's leg injuries and Guice is suddenly the whirling dervish he was last year. He can't perform a medicine man chant to heal at least one of difference-making defensive end Rashard Lawrence's double ankle sprains.

quote:

Orgeron's biggest fight the rest of the season might be keeping his team focused in the wake of the flood of fans saying he should be fired.

It's a suggestion so incredibly stupid I'm at loss for words.

At the very least, you must give Orgeron one, maybe two recruiting classes to fill holes in the lineup that were not of his doing.

If he does that and there is no substantial progress, then you fire him at the end of his third season.

Fire everyone. The suggestion O needs time to fill gaps is laughable considering he was the fricking recruiting coordinator

As long as "Fire Alleva" is first, it doesn't really matter what else the article says. In fact, I certainly don't want O fired before Alleva is canned.

If we can get a real AD, the O situation will work itself out (hopefully).

Firing Ed Orgeron Would be Ridiculous, but

Well, we didn’t let being “ridiculous” (insane, asinine, laughingstock...) stop us from hiring the Rougarou, so why should we let being “ridiculous” keep us from firing his arse?

Realistically if we got rid of Alleva this year and brought in Herb or the guy at A&M that is from here that would be considered a win.

Then with any luck Les gets a coaching job somewhere, and after next season O's buyout drops to like 6 million (remember it's pro rated based on what has been paid already that calendar year). Then you let your new AD pick his coach and you keep at least some semblance on continuity without completely destroying your budget.

In the perfect world they would go together along with F King....but yes you are right firing O before you fire Alleva and allowing him and King to hire another football coach is just sheer stupidity.

Just fire Alleva. Get a new AD on here to clean this shite up. Let O's buyout get to a reasonable amount- can his arse- then don't go cheap or easy. Go get a damn proven winner.

O became recruiting coordinator the spring of 2016, after Frank Wilson left for UTSA. He honestly did not have a full cycle of recruiting because those players he went after are not always his choice. It’s the HC choice which was Les Miles, whom was fired 4 games into the season.

I’m all about O either winning or not being here as much as the next man. But we can’t point that finger at him because he in fact was not the recruiting coordinator in 2014-2015 when LSU did not sign enough players on the O line and D line.

However, it was his job as the D line coach and ace recruiter to get those D lineman to LSU and that just didn’t happen. His best signees with LSU are IMO only Key and Lawrence.

He lost to fricking Troy. He got blown out by a below average Mississippi State team.

This is the most realistic timeline. I'd say Alleva gets canned after the A&M game after seeing the last 3 SEC home games less than half filled at halftime. New AD a few months later. Coach O gets to 2018, starts off with a loss to the U putting him on the hot seat yet again, followed by an embarrassing loss to Auburn to open the SEC 0-1 again. Dave Aranda is made the interim and we hire PJ fleck at the end of the season.

I agree, unfortunately this is the best case scenario.

This may turn out to be one of our new great LSU memes.

That #15 recruiting class this year will surely bring life back into the program with 0 top 180 players committed. Nice.

I’ll let them slide for now.

We have to prioritize.

One step at a time.

Alleva first, then hope the rest takes care of itself.

yeah per LSU standards this class looks very AVERAGE. everyone told us coach o only had to recruit, motivate, and let the coordinators take care of the rest. so far the whole things looks like a complete DISASTER.

i obviously have been driving the PJ Fleck bus for awhile, i just don't know if he'd leave Minny after only 2 years. He seems like the kind of guy who wants to finish whatever it was he started somewhere before moving on.
