Having a motivator/recruiter for a HC turned out okay.

Most people want that splash hire that's a whiz on the blackboard.

That's your Chip Kelly, The pirate.. type guys.

But it's starting to show the positives of the other end.

High profile juniors are giving thought to stay with the university , even with millions almost guaranteed.

There is upside this time. And nobody should be credited if not Orgeron.

Inb4 "That's alot of words to say LSU Stacked, SEC frickkkked".

Anybody who still thinks Tommy “Hair Plugs” Herman was a better choice than CEO can STTDB.

It’s been above average so far but it’s still early. The trend needs to continue over 3-5 season to break the cultural IMO.

Hats off to O though. The guys is trying to address everything that’s held us back recently.

And these returning draft eligible juniors were recruited by a different head coach. O was there but he was not the head coach.

I’d rather have a good x’s and o’s coach. You have that and the rest takes care of itself i.e. Bill Arnspargar and Saban.
What’s going to happen when Aranda leaves?

Motivation is great and all, but it’s temporary. It is much more important to be driven rather than motivated. It sounds like we have a team full of driven seniors. Next year has the potential to be special for sure.

OP doesn't know how inb4 works.

Also true. O created a monster 2019 team.

I agree with everything and go a little further.

The biggest thing missing with coach O was him being a credible SEC caliber head coach. That missing factor made a ton of fans nervous about the program but Now that he has credibility we’ll see our future continue to get brighter and brighter. He has the ability to inspire and teach through his personality and knowlege but now that he has credibility you’ll see the best in the land continue to want to play for the purple and gold.

Cool, Positive offseason thread. I’m in. Now Let’s score some points against Bama and win games we’re suppose to.

They’ll probably hire a replacement and all will be right in the world.

Understand the desire but I disagree for several reasons.
1 Most, like almost all, including Nick and Bill do not call offensive or defensive plays in the game. They advise their coordinators, watch the flow of the overall game (offense, defense, special teams, player physical and emotional condition, manage the clock, manage the timeouts, manage the review challenges, and work the referees).
2. While the offense is on the field, the DC must make adjustments and plan responses with his players and subordinates. The HC advises and consents. Can’t do that if calling x and o. Vice versa as well.
3. Game week management. HC is in charge of defense planing, practice, etc. Same with offense and special teams. Also with equipment, nutrition, studies, media, medical, recruiting, and the administration.
4. HC is the motivator of his players, coordinations, assistants, and staff.
5. HC is responsible for recruitment. What position, targets, coordinations, fall back plans etc.

So far, O has handled the vast majority of these things well. He’s recruiting well, motivating players and coaches well. If Aranda wasn’t happy, he can get a job equal to or better than this one.

Xs and Os are for coordinators. HCs manage a program, not an offense or defense.

I think O needs to not get rid of his Special Assistant. He got the job and seems to be progressing. Drop the putrid weight

So far it has been overall a successful experiment. I'll say that much.

But I can't call it a success or failure until after this coming season. If we lose more than twice on our overall record, including bowl game, I will call this a failure. We have such a loaded roster coming back, that if we lose 3+ games it will undoubtedly be on the coaching staff.

We have had success recruiting. Great success. So with our talent, if we can't at least score some points on Alabama, and if we don't finish second or better in the SEC, I will say things need to change.

Sorry not sorry. With the studs we have coming back and another stellar recruiting class coming in, we have no excuses left. We should be in contention for the SEC and CFP. I love this team and I want to see them reach their full potential. If they can't reach that potential, I cannot logically lay the blame anywhere except at the doorstep of the Staff.

If you dont have the studs it does not do any good. Bill snyder was maybe the best x and o coach. No nattys no studs

AD’s are going to the “recruiter” to lead.. Oregon LSU are two programs that it seems to be working for so far. Look at all these elite recruits that have Oregon n their final group now. Watch out for them n the pac 12 next season.

I’m as excited for next year as anyone, but declaring that this coaching model a success right now is just too soon.

We haven’t won anything of significance and haven’t noticeably improved our record since the change.

What on field success we have achieved has been almost wholly due to the DC that was already in place when O was hired and a QB trained by Urban Meyer.

When those two pieces are gone is when the ultimate judgement can be made on how this model works.

But the more good things that happen until then, the easier it will be to find people to replace them and keep things going, so hopefully 2019 will be everything we all hope it will
