t'll be hard to not think of Simmons as a top 5 LSU player of all time.

no 1 or 2 year player will ever be top 5 unless an NCAA championship is involved

Any top 5 team without Rudy Macklin is inadequate.

Rudy is the leading rebounder and second leading scorer in LSU history.

More importantly Rudy is the St. Peter of LSU basketball. Dale Brown said , Thy art Rudy and upon your skills I will build this program, and build it Sale and Rudy did. It was truly a fantastic climb to the top.

It can be argued that without Rudy Dale may have been gone by 1977. Without Rudy there is likely no Chris Jackson, Shaquille Oneal, Howard Carter, Ricky Blanton, Dwayne Scales to name a few.

Rudy belongs in any top five list.

Quite possibly. Kenny Higgs was really his first star recruit. Still our all-time assists leader and 7th leading scorer of all time. He and Rudy actually overlapped a year or two.

I don't think Rudy was nearly as highly recruited as Simmons or let's say John Williams, but for LSU at the time it was a big find.

Began Dale's trend of hiring the high school coaches of star players to get them here. He did it at least 4 times I can recall off the top of my head. Something Johnny learned in a way in hiring Simmon's Godfather and fellow Australian coach to the staff.

No way this group loses to any college team, any where. I mean, look at that talent. Plus, the advantage of playing 6 on 5 would make us unstoppable.
