Have to admit that was a fun run with LSU women’s basketball 10-15 years ago.

I’ll start off saying I’m not a huge women’s sports fan but watching a competitive women’s softball and Basketball game is fun for sure.
Right now the women’s basketball shite is stale as 1year bread.
Pokey was was fantastic and had us trending in the right direction probably to a title if the issues hadn’t had come up.
Nicky is not the answer unfortunately as fine and classy as she may be.
School deserves winning on every level and as Wade produces we need the women’s team to also step up. This all feeds into the basketball community via word of mouth and media as the men’s team gains traction.
It’s time to make a move.

Before their first final four, LSU women had most tourney wins without final 4

Then they made 800 final fours in a row and never advanced

I'm with you OP.

I can't watch women's basketball to save my life but I sure loved watching them play during the golden age of LSU women's basketball.

The two that got away were both against Tennessee. The in bounds turnover with the score tied with less than 15 seconds to go resulting in the game winning layup by Tennessee. Ouch.

And then Super woman returns from an apparent separated shoulder (on her shooting arm if I'm not mistaken) and burns us. That was unreal. I really thought we caught our lucky break to get to the finals. Was never meant to be.

seems like a weird time to bitch about the women’s basketball team when we’re actually having a pretty decent year. we’re about to jump into the rankings

Of course that was battling Pat and Geno in their prime.

God. The one vs Tennessee when they gave up the full court layup at the buzzer was ridiculous.

Whats even more ridiculous now is how much money women’s basketball loses every year. It’s like no one cares but they’re in the red for over 2 mil yearly.

He will call me a LSU hating idiot, but here's the truth of the matter. Women's sports having success do not threaten his boy toy, who he gets EXTREMELY insecure about. You don't see many men's basketball or baseball threads from him, because he views that as threat to Orgeron for some weird reasons. Women's sports are fine though.

He will deny it, call me names, but it is the truth.

It was a fun time watching LSU with Fowles, Augustus, Hightower among others. PMAC was packed a lot.

I think we will always be a gritty team defensively under Nikki but I don't think she recruits well enough to ever go far in the NCAAT. I don't think its unreasonable to expect a top 25 program with occasional runs through the NCAAT. Expecting final fours every year is unreasonable but we should be making runs to sweet sixteens and stuff. Getting bounced every year in the first round isn't acceptable.

I am not sure how far this team will go this year as losing Mitchell is a giant blow to us and the back end of our season. Against the better teams, its going to really show. Hoping the ladies put it together to end the year under tough circumstances.

It’s exactly what she did. She fell under the radar because of the sexual allegations and they wanted to regroup.
It’s now 10 years plus old time to move on and be in contention.
LSU should contend in everything

That's what I was wondering about you.

You start out saying you aren't a huge LSU womens sports fan. Then you go off on a three paragraph rant about something you don't care about.

So you came here to do what ?

1) Just wanted to bitch about something?
3) Trying to distract away from the men's team?

Actually, his point was very clear; but maybe your comprehension is lacking; so an unbiased party will break it down.

His point was that while he is not big on the women’s sports, he did very much enjoy watching them in their hay day of going to final 4’s routinely and winning the SEC (on this point I very much agree with him). But more importantly, he believes all programs at LSU should be good to elite and having consistent success in their sport (again, I very much agree).

The only odd thing about the post is that yes, the timing is a bit off since Fargas is managing to turn in one of her better seasons in a while. But to that, I would say this - while the football team was also turning in good seasons, that still wasn’t enough because fans understood that it could be way better and should be competing for championships. Because we once saw the women’s program be elite (even if falling a little short), the expectation should be for it to reach that level again, if for any other reason other than we should have that expectation of all our athletic programs.

So your point about the timing of his post is relevant; but as per usual, you had to do it in a snarky jackass way that only you can, which serves to only piss people off rather than get your point across.

Disagree. My information will be stated by others the next time this stupid shite comes up.

When your dog pisses on the carpet you rub his/her nose in it. They quit pissing on the carpet - problem solved.

Just like my thoughts on gymnastics taking 30 years for anyone to even know we had a gymnastics team.

I don’t disagree that people will bring up they are having a good year. But it’s not like they are having a great year, and with having just lost their best player, there is a good chance they will falter yet again in the tournament. So my question, as was his, how long do we continue to give Nicki the opportunity to turn it around when she has shown no signs of ever getting this program back to where it was less than 15 years ago?

quote:

Actually, while this may work for some dogs, studies, science, and dog trainers/behaviorists alike have all said that this is one of the worst things to do and not an overall effective way of solving the issue and training the dog. And that it can actually lead to greater confusion, behavioral problems, and resentment by the dog. Reason? Because unless you catch them in the act, the dog does not understand what it did wrong when you come back and attempt to discipline for something they did minutes or even hours before. So take that weak arse analogy somewhere else.

quote:

Hahahahaha...so we should give Nicki 30 years to make the program relevant again?

That was rhetorical by the way. Hell no we shouldn’t. Because the difference is that before recent times (last 10 years), people didn’t know gymnastics existed because it was never good. Sort of the same way that most don’t pay attention to swimming and diving or even know it exists; and if not for the natatorium being where it is, most probably wouldn’t.

But if you don’t think for a second that many are not criticizing DD now and turning up the heat on her for her failure to get over the hump now that she has shown what the program can be, then you are mistaken.
