Since it was no TV, listened to majority of the game on the radio.
Good calling guys.

Most of the people that gripe haven't had the pleasure of listening to other college announcers, as I have had over my years with XM and listening to countless football and baseball games for other schools.

Most college announcers sucks. Hawthorne has his flaws (#1 he is too emotional/negative), but he is solid relative to most of his peers.

Rhymes at the left field wall....... LEAPS....... Ibarra makes the catch in front of the dugout to end the inning!

His emotion is the least of his problems.

When you can't accurately or clearly describe the game, and that is your job, then you should be fired.

What I don't like is sometimes he has long pauses

in the middle of a sentence.

For your information, I am one of the people who gripe about Hawthorne. I listened to Hawthorne's predecessor, John Ferguson, from the time I was a little girl until his retirement Did you ever listen to Ferguson? Obviously not, or you wouldn't be defending Hawthorne.

In summary, you and others like you, who use the "you haven't listened to other current announcers because Hawthorne is so much better" argument are full of it. I counter with you obviously never heard the best LSU announcer ever, John Ferguson, or you would be embarrassed to be defending the trainwreck that is Hawthorne.

I was at the game so I didn't listen to the radio. Did he say this today?

I listened to Ferguson a lot. He has his faults too. Both are/were good at their jobs.

He hit it foul down the left field line. No right field. No left field cuz it went over the 3rd base.

That fricking happened today.

And this doozie: here comes the 2-1 pitch and Ohh he struck him out.
