I would have like to see him get today and tomorrow off. He has pitched a lot. Young kid, will he have enough in the tank to go three more games in a row. We saw it with the Cubs and Aroldis Chapman.

Hess was certainly off, but he should be fine for the series Monday.

You're trying to beat the best team in college baseball twice. Win or go home. You use everyone.

I wanted him to wait until the 9th to bring in Hess. Even after the home, Gilbert could have gotten another out of two. He had a 1-hitter going.

He hasn't overworked him but I wouldn't have had a problem with Newman getting some work.

Is there something we don't know about Newman going on?

Yes he had a bad outing and Hess has shut every team down he has faced.

Its baseball you go with the hot hand.

Newman usually wins, but you lose 5 lbs taking 3 shits over the course of 2 innings in the process! Hess is straight heat...

If Newman was in, the inning might still be going on, seriously.

He was put in to close those frickers out without screwing around.
