on how to use him correctly. I just tell him, "Harold, on each play, line up wherever the hell you want and go find the guy with the ball"

Just put him on the line of scrimmage and run blitzes/drop him back. Disguise disguise disguise

Just from a team perspective he needs to be used in this type of way. He should be a spot player.

The told him to do a 3 Mississippi rush his freshman year and he was an all American.

The coaches have basically said that he’s learning how to process and react, which is just a nice way of saying he needs to play without thinking.

So what are we going to do with the 8-9 other players who are not performing up to expectations?

In 2 games we have 2 sacks total. Jones has both of them. We have 7 TFLs not counting sacks and HP has 0.5 of one of them. Weeks leads the TFLs with 1.5.

I think we need to realize HP is not the big problem. Yeah, he is not making AA plays but he is not doing any worse than the rest of the D.

It depends. Do they have someone better behind them? I believe we probably have someone who is a better ILB than Perkins.

He was the lowest graded player on the entire team for the Nicholls game.

I haven’t seen South Carolina play. But their QB is huge. If he’s a runner, we may want to play more 3 LBs than nickel. Even if that 3rd “LB” is Perkins, wherever he lines up. May see a lot of Perkins, Whit, and Wes/Penn on the field at the same time.

“Just from a team perspective he needs to be used in this type of way. He should be a spot player.“. This right here. His freshman year we had dog at DE that could get after the QB. They bring Perkins of the bench either put him just outside or on the opposite side of the defense. Mostly just on third down he would make a spectacular play and then they would take him out until they needed him again. As a full time player in the middle, he’s just not the same player.

He made his name his freshman year rushing the passer and catching (spying) fast QBs and RBs coming out of the backfield. My 10 year old knows he should still be doing that.

at this point (even though i’m nobody and the program owes me nothing…) I need LSU to just put him as a rush LBer in 3-4 or an undersized DE in a 4-3 just to PROVE TO ME it doesn’t work.

i think I, and a large contingent of the fanbase, just want to see one entire game where Perkins does nothing except rush the passer from the outside.

that’s it. I wont be happy with his role until that’s done, then if that doesn’t work we can open up the discussion.

but a 3-4 front like this excites me. no one can tell me it is not our best option as a base defense

The offenses no longer worry about where he is lining up. He is no longer a threat. The funny thing is Baker was supposed to be creating chaos.

Brian Kelly and Blake Baker are telling you it's not the best option in their opinion.

I don't get it. You don't get it. Many on here don't get it.

Perkins is not a MLB. He's not going to be a MLB in the NFL so they are not "Preparing" him for pro football.

The SEC is no place for "On The Job Training" and this HP MLB OTJT experiment is hurting the Defense.

It's the Defensive Equivalent of the Dumbo Miles "Square Peg-Round Hole" quarterback nonsense because it makes no sense.

BK and BB will stubbornly stick with it though until the loses start to mount.........
