Cowboys fan here so I can’t help but see similarities b/w Perkins & Micah Parsons. I see house using Perkins like Dan Quinn uses #11.
Both consistently beat OL that are much bigger than them & affect the QB pocket, both have elite closing speed, both are good in coverage & tackle well in open space.
Obviously Perkins is raw & needs to develop more, but it’s exciting to have this type of player on defense

Stylistically, it’s a fair comparison. We used Marcel Brooks in that kind of role as well. It’s interesting to see how much success safety-sized pass rushers can have in the modern game.
Parsons played DE in high school and was already 230+ as a freshman at PSU, whereas Perkins will need to grow into that while keeping his speed.

Yes and the pass rushing is just the tip of the ice berg

You can build a great defense around this guy

Hold you’re horses hoss. I looked at the team stats (the ones referenced on Dandy Don’s) and no one player on the team were out standing. Nobody had 9-10 tackles or four tackles for loss. The D gave up a 100 yard rusher and 250 yards in the air. If our offense wasn’t on fire and had time of possession it would have been worse. Because of the offense the D wasn’t fatigued. They played much better in the second half. This team, the last two games, has played like the 2019 team. Great offense and adequate defense.
