If it was one or two glaring issues then you can work them out in practice but the problems are all over the board. Plus the coaches are new and after this horrible gameplan, how do they even sell the kids on “improvements”?

This is starting now to feel like the end of the Les Miles era. Just going through the motions now.

I could stomach things if the other team just had more talent. Outside of Bama, we are more talented than everyone we play. There’s no fight, energy, passion, or enthusiasm at all on this team and that’s a direct reflection on culture within the program. O has drifted away from all of the things he stated when he was hired. It’s just nauseating to watch at this point. The former players are sick of it, the fans are sick of it, I know the administration must be sick of it as well.

Same exact issues as last season. Nobody left to point the finger at either.

LSU football was associated with pure toughness the last 20 years. Win or lose, LSU used to play physical and tough football.

UCLA manhandled upfront. It’s hard to get used to that fact.

Perfect response. From the looks of it the defense is just as bad and oline was manhandled. Nothing is fixed

Won't happen. Not physical enough to fix much dating back to the S and C staff. Soft.

They will not fix it all as long as Orgeron is HC.

Offense:
1) pick up tempo, don't stand there until there's under 5 seconds on the clock to snap
2) pre-snap motion, see if man or zone, expose possible blitz
3) get away from the Bunch formation, especially in short yardage
4) consider occasional pro-set or I, with a TE or OL at FB if necessary, for short yardage.
5) (#1) NO BLIND PASSES! And do something with the line to protect the QB, so he doesn't feel the need to do that. TE or WR in motion chipping someone, something.

Defense:
Hell, I dunno. Play 5 Linemen and 6 DBs maybe? Ricks and Stingley at corner, Flott and someone else who knows what to do but cant run with WRs in the "LB" spots, with two deeper safeties?
I mean, Flott doesn't hit like he's 240, but the LBs we have weren't close enough to hitting guys anyway. The 5 man front would address a lot of the run defense, the speed of the DBs would gum up the outside plays, and they should be able to cover a crossing route.

Didn't TCU run something like this?

it also creates mismatches

but football ignorant tards here hated canadas motion and bradys motion when he used it.

nothing wrong with bunch. do you even understand what it helps us do?

frick no

you realize an actual PRO SET is split backs? from ACE formation? that is the shite we ran with dalton hilliard and garry james in early 80s. LOL

shotgun splits is fine with 2 WR and a TE tho every now and then.

Even if we were to change schemes, you still have to coach them and execute them. I don’t see it happening with this staff that honestly have never operated at this level.

it's sad you people keep saying that. Who has worse linebackers? who has worse safeties? who has a worse oline? Wire wouldn't start for a single other SEC team most likely. How many teams have worse running backs.

Boutte is great
Kicker is elite
CB's are elite

4 players do not make us more talented than everyone not name bama.

Florida, Georgia, Auburn and A&M all have as much talent as LSU. Maybe more

execution was bad last year and now this year. people shat on E and linehan but we were putrid in many ways player related.
we have not forgotten plays or concepts. mangus was with brady here and carolina. peetz with him at carolina. we just cannot execute.

It was frustrating, and I’m disappointed and concerned about where this season may go. We definitely didn’t play to my expectations against UCLA

That said, I also didn’t see a total dumpster fire. I think we have some potential to get better as the season progresses. We shall see. If we lose to Miss St, it’s time to hit the panic button and maybe the eject button on the Orgeron era.

I understand it just fine, I've watched Payton run it a lot with the Saints over the years.

With Johnson at QB not reading and hitting the hot routes, and UCLA throwing all sorts of blitzes at us, it was causing more problems than it helped.

Two backs in pro set, offset I, etc on occasion, when you're in good down and distance. Breed some toughness in run blocks, you don't need to be in the gun on 2nd and 3. Sometimes getting the 1st down is important.

"Brady ball" is simply a take on what Payton has schemed. Payton occasionally uses a fullback, when it makes sense. Sometimes goes to single back with 2 TE's. Don't you remember him running all over Buffalo a couple years ago?

What LSU is running is far too unbalanced in favor of the pass. Need to bring some power back, in some manner. We can get great backs here, don't completely abandon it.

I'm talking about packages to run in short yardage, not overall scheme.

Remember the first thing O did was lighten the practice times and intensity. Gradually we’ve become less physical and less tough. Just look at our defense, no hitters and nobody willing to do the dirty work.

Good thing is we play 3 horrible teams before Auburn comes to us so we’ve got a month to figure things out and be prepared for the next time we play a team with a pulse. Need to get healthier. Need Nabers at WR to give a legit #2 next to Boutte. Need Sage Ryan and Jay Ward back as the starting Safeties. There is zero reason why Mike Jones shouldn’t be starting at LB. Our LB’s couldn’t cover a crossing route or drag to save their life and Jones has been one of the best cover LBs in college football. Sucks we won’t get Brennan back for a long time and even if/when we do he’ll likely be rusty. Need Emery and Goodwin at RB both those guys can make people miss and have speed to break one. Like TDP but he just isn’t that kind of back. The only issue is we’re not getting any new players on the OLine those guys were all there they just stink and have for awhile. Shanahan is the worst Center we’ve ever had the guy isn’t an SEC football player I almost feel bad for him how badly he gets bullied into the backfield on every inside run play.
