Five years ago, on this day, Joe Burrow announced he was transferring to Louisiana State University.

Best damn decision he ever made, and LSU fans are very grateful he did. A legend at LSU forever!

He could have gone to Cincinnati. His talent still would have shown, but he wouldn't have been throwing to JJets or Ja'Marr.

So Orgeron's book and some statements by Brady and Ensminger after the fact address how incredibly advanced burrow was in the film room. Like, he knew exactly what was happening on both sides of the ball watching tape that he had never studied before on his first day visiting the facility.

It just goes to show you that the fans at the time who were simping for Brennan or McMillan, etc. had absolutely no idea what they were getting and the coaches didn't really feel the need to clue us in.

Things like this are happening behind the scenes all the time and I can't wait to see what's next.

Louisiana should declared this day a Joe Burrow Celebration day

Not a holiday but a day to toast a champion like no other to come

Doesn't seem like it was half a decade ago.

Him plus O and the gang equaled the greatest season ever.

Even if a team goes 18-0 with a super expanded playoff the chances anyone else plays a schedule like that season AND have the level of dominance is highly unlikely. Lighting in a bottle year, lets cherish it for forever.

I am so glad that lighting in a bottle was at LSU. It could have been anywhere in college football but honestly I got to enjoy the best season ever with my brother and my 2 sons and even got to watch Joey B live in that arse beating we gave Oklahoma. PRICELESS. Big shout out to BDJ

The first time I got a sense of this was the 2018 UGA game. He was always a step ahead of Kirby’s overrated D in that game.

O took him to Mike Anderson's and the GOAT said he wanted boiled crawfish, but it wasn't on the menu. O calls his crawfish guy and 20 minutes later the GOAT gets his crawfish and the rest is history!

"Him and The Gang" were 100% responsible.

O was a glorified hand clapping cheerleader on the sidelines.

Orgeron didn't even recruit Burrow. That was Bill Busch who had strong contacts in Ohio!

He may not have found him or initially targeted him but he was definitely the closer and sealed the deal, it's documented. I don't think Burrow comes here, or even Chase for that matter, without O.

O definitely had flaws that were exposed when he lost a lot of his staff after that year and did a poor job replacing them. But to pretend he had 0 to do with the players and coaches assembled for that year is pretty ignorant.

I see the fools are still amongst us. Maybe O didn't have big hands in the X's & O's but to think he didn't have to make a lot of decisions that only a coach would make behind the scene is, well, extremely fricking naïve.
