Hanny noted the luxury Coach O has in turning to Brady for advice, claiming they parted ways amicably, implied Coach and Brady remain close friends. Hanny did have a issue with Coach O putting out in the public who he considers at the top of his coaching hires, what happens if they say no to LSU, it would be a bad look. Hanny also implied that the OC is in the bag, and suggested we’ll likely know about Freeman by Monday.

It really is. Orgeron has established a pretty solid coaching tree.

Aranda was a Les hire but was on pretty good terms with O as well.

It seems like him and Aranda were on strictly professional terms. I don't know about pretty good after those "Defense is so much better than last year" comments.

Imagine how helpful his ties to Aranda would have been had he not taken every opportunity this offseason to shite on Dave.

I never understood the reasoning behind O’s negative comments of Aranda’s defense. Did it involve negative recruiting, something O was told that Aranda said. We just don’t know. Orgeron did praise Aranda later during the 2020 season.

Aranda spoke very highly of Coach O at his Baylor introductory press conference, almost looked like he was getting emotional talking about how much respect he had for O. I think the rift between them is a little over blown.

You’re probably right. That defense comment was just so weird and out of place.

I think I got defensive because of the implication to believe the defense would take a step or two back after Aranda left.

Coach O's ego at times is a problem. Say what you want about Aranda, but his defenses played the best in the biggest games. In all the playoff games our defense whooped arse.

Not convinced this was so much of a dig on Aranda as it was typical coach speak and O does have verbal diarrhea at times.

Actually fans have overblown this almost to the point of fabrication. LSU insiders say Aranda and O are on great terms.

What will O do without ties to a 2-7 coach coming off of firing his own staff after 1 year?

I respect Aranda but you do make a valid point however just a warning. Aranda’s making all the right coaching moves, LSU will face him one day in a major bowl. Almost a guarantee.

At least he is smart enough to realize he made a mistqke.

He is a first time head coach.

If it were up to you we would still have pelini. Can u defend that?

How under any circumstances could this not be true? It’s not like he left to go to Bama. The dude wants to be in the NFL. That wasn’t a secret.

Maybe so, but O said Ponamsky is the one talking with Joe.

This is the epitome of sunshine pumping. Using guys Orgeron discarded as examples to compliment him is pure manipulation of reality. O rewards one thing only, cult like devotion to himself not LSU.

What does Aranda’s first year HC record at Baylor have to do with his value as a resource for identifying DC talent or helping Orgeron in his own DC search?

LSU is trying to lure a young, up-and-coming DC to Baton Rouge who has publicly let it be known that his aspiration is to be a head coach. less than ten years ago, Aranda was in the same position. He came to LSU, made elite coordinator money, won a title, and was offered a P5 head coaching gig.

You don’t see how having Aranda as a resource or supportive former employee would be beneficial to O as he tries to land Freeman?
