junior college transfers are covered differently. FBS and FCS are both 4 year schools.

Cliff notes as I see them, Rocket.
Hanagriff is solid. If he says there's a meeting, there's a meeting.
Any sane person can see that TM has failed more than 3 tests.
He will be advised tonight of the risks he would be taking in attempting a return to LSU in 2013. At his own expense.
Someone in his camp realizes that the reward for successfully coming back to LSU would more than likely far outweigh anything one season at McNeese could do for his NFL career.
I don't think TM stood on solid NFL potential ground, like many do. And that was without the drug issues. Punt returner, situational defender.
At least some of his value was tied up in his image, and his best chance to regain that is to redeem himself with LSU. JJ was a better prospect, IMO, and McNeese didn't help him any.
Having some knowledge of McNeese football from a players perspective (my brother played there for 5 years), the only way he's staying clean over there, is if he commutes from somewhere outside of LC daily.
Actually, I can't think of anyone who transferred D-1 to McNeese and went on to any degree of NFL success, and there's been several. And the ones that come to mind actually had some drug issues.

I'm not going through the semantics and verbatim of the policy, but I do know what is made public is a legal matter.
It is my understanding that the third violation carries a suspension of UP TO 1 year.
So, let's assume, for the sake of argument, that his second violation was the 1 game suspension last year. Third violation occurs this year after BCSNCG.
LSU sits TM down and non-publically informs him that he is indefinitely suspended. Maybe it's first 2 games, maybe it's half the season, maybe it's the entire season. They allow him to practice with the team and subject him to random tests, with a positive resulting in permanent expulsion.
I would bet my left testicle that he has failed a fourth test.

That would be dumb since your senario is no more likely than him failing 3 test. Wasn't he practicing with the 1's in spring and recently? That would dismiss your theory.

I thought everything was business as usual up to Thursday of last week.
I might be naive, but I can see a scenario of a conditional suspension occuring post spring, pre-summer. With the original suspension including the first 2 games, contingent upon staying clean and attending class.

There is no "up to" in the policy

The you are saying LSU broke their policy. I can also see a scenario where TM failed a third recently, and Miles told him he couldn't play with the team this year. TM told him he would transfer and LSU called the press conference claiming to hVe dismissed him from the team.
By dismissing TM from the team for an unknown violation, LSU would not have to disclose the reason ( maybe TM preferred this ), and they would also be appearing to be taking a hard stance.
If they explained to everyone about the policy and year long suspension then they would basically be disclosing
everything.
The fact is, none of us know anything. TM may play at LSU again or he may not. But we will probably never know if we were right or wrong about the process that is taking place right now.

I think sitting out a year and getting your life together is the best option (which is what his parents have said). going directly back to football with no treatment and a new school, new coaches etc. would just increase pressure and more than likely cause a relapse.

The one thing that could lead me to believe that something was up before Friday was TM being left out of SEC media days group. That was odd for a returning Heisman candidate.

Parents basically said no football this year

If sane people are right the LSU will soon be under sanctions and lose scholarships and be banned from post season play.

The people that raised him seem like some good, solid people. I hope they do make him sit out and get his life straight. No need for Tyrann to wind up like his bilogical parents.

(fingers crossed that it was only #3 and we don't have to worry about any of that)...OR we covered our tracks and everything is under control
surely we wouldn't be taking any chances while on probation. TM is great and all, but no one player is worth bringing down the program.

I'm not saying he already had 3 tests prior to this one, but it does actually say that in the policy.
6. Up to one-year suspension from all athletic related activities (team practices, weight room, team running, etc…) pending reinstatement by treatment team and head coach.
7. One-year suspension from competition. Scholarship during this period of time is at the discretion of the Athletic Director and Head Coach and dependent upon a negative drug screen and compliance with ADAP program. Reinstatement after the one-year period is with the support of the ADAP treatment team and Athletic Director and at the request of the Head Coach, dependent upon negative drug screen

I'm sure all schools have some wiggle room, in LSU's case they have the appeal procedure for the 3rd test. Just speculation, but you could have tests that are part of a program outside of the team's normal testing after an initial failure. These wouldn't necessarily have to be part of the official results. I'm sure LSU knows exactly how to manage this process.
