Toups to start in left field, Hal Hughes back to shortstop. Milazzo to catch 2 games. Mainieri looking to find more balance in the lineup

My guess is Doughty but that’s not an easy decision there.

figured this was coming

Paul knows this team is going to struggle to hit no matter what he puts out there so they may as well play solid defense. Although Hughes didn't have a great weekend with his glove.

That’s easy IMO. Doughty has looked much better so far. He has squared up a ton of baseballs. Dugas (outside of the one bomb) has looked lost at the plate. Anyone have the strikeout numbers on both? I feel like Dugas has several strikeouts.

Dugas leads the team with 7 strikeouts. Doughty has a lot of hard outs so I’d think PM will stay with Doughty right now.

I agree. Dugas as 7 Ks and Bianco has 5.

We will probably get better offensively and defensively with this change.

7 in 13 at bats. Woof. No strikeouts for Doughty.

Glad to see Toups get a shot to start. Don’t know how he will hit, but He’s at least patient at the plate

Damn I did not realize that. I would’ve guessed Bianco led the team.

That’s a rough start for both of them

If that "one bomb" could be chopped up into singles he'd be batting over .600.

I think Mainieri has decided to ride with Hampton, and he will eventually start hitting. He sure looks like he’ll be a good hitter. Mainieri might be thinking the same with Toups. I haven’t seen as much of him, and I’m not as confident, as I am with Hampton, that Toups will find his groove at the plate.

Its possible dugas plays 2nd and doughty dh. Sounds like PM wants to get away from the power or bust lineup already

I know next to nothing about Toups. I don’t remember his recruitment and I haven’t heard many people talk about him since he’s been on campus.

Toups is a pesky hitter. He has good plate discipline and finds ways on base, im more confident in him at the plate than hampton

Garza isn’t coming out of the lineup and CPM stated that Milazzo will catch two games

Unless I missed some of his at bats it seemed like Hughes is getting more hard outs to the outfield instead of these moon shots to the infield.

I wouldn’t call them hard outs because quite frankly Hughes just can’t hit the ball very hard but his pitch selection is better, he’s striking out less and he’s hitting the ball on a line.
