Noted that he had 0 fielding chances yesterday - 0 put outs and 0 assists, while batting he was 0-2 and had 3 LOB to lead the team; so, what is his value staying in the starting lineup?

He had a chance at 3rd, with 2 outs and runners on the corners, and didn't make the play, allowing FSU's 1st run.

All of these talking heads on TV keep praising his defense. While he isn't bad at the same time he isn't what have him cracked up to be. The reason he gets so much praise is that his defense is the only thing they can talk about. His defense isn't anywhere near good enough to make up for being the worst LSU player offensive in over 20 years. That isn't my opinion this is backed up with cold hard facts.

Haha, he might have saved a run by getting a glove on it. No way to make that play.

Judging by his facial expressions, it wouldn’t shock me if he’s a virgin.

I've defended Hal in the past but I don't think he should start this game. We all know what the FSU offense is capable of. LSU is going to have to put up some runs and Hal just isn't the guy that gives us the best chance of doing that.

If we have a late lead it would make sense to put him in but not to start the game.

Give me

Reid - 3rd
Beloso - 1st
Gio - DH

There’s a marginal difference in Hal/Reid defensive ability (if any).. Beloso isn’t a liability at 1st IMO and Gio is a much better hitter than Hal. Gio also has some potential to steal some bases which I don’t think Hal has.

It was a high chopper. It's not an easy play but it's not like it was impossible.

It's a play that should be made by someone who's hitting .170 but continues to start because of their defense.

Hughes is Pulmonary's DJ Welter. If Hughes is the all world fielder that Pulmonary claims him to be, Smith would be at third and Hughes would be at SS. Hughes plays because he's Pulmonary's favorite. How many RBI opportunities have been blown by Hughes? If it weren't for Pulmonary, Hughes wouldn't have survived even a JUCO stint somewhere.

He can’t even beat out Josh Smith for shortstop. Josh just got drafted as a “utility” player. If Hughes is going to bat .160, he needs to be Ozzie Smith in the field to justify his being in the lineup. He’s no Ozzie.

He also got on with a lead off walk and the top of the order didn’t do shite to get him in. Not defending him, but don’t leave that out.

No one on the field yesterday would have made that play and saved the run.

If Hal can't make that play, he shouldn't be on the field. Period. When you're only reason for being in the lineup is the leather, you better flash it.

bullshite. Maybe not the out but 99% of 3rd basemen that are worth a shite are able to at least glove it and hold the runner.
