Well, it was fun for half the night. I hate to be negative, but I’m ready for the future. If Sami and Edwards return, that will be fantastic. The others, I appreciate their hard work, but they were not the seniors of past seasons. Too shaky a lot of the time, and not very consistent. Maybe not always focused on gymnastics.

Yea I mean they hadn't had many all around solid meets all year. So it's not a surprise but you just hope they could put it all together when it matters and pull off something special. I mean it came down to beam and if we would have just been good on it, not great, we advance.

Fixed. My wife watches religiously because she used to teach gym and has multiple connections to the program. As soon as I walked in the door from work she was watching, and I asked when LSU was on beam and she said last. I instantly said “shite!” They’re done. We needed floor last as the scores steadily rose on floor as the meet went on which is typical. Not sure why, but judges always score higher on floor as a meet goes on.

Oklahoma has Olympic order so they are winning tomorrow unless all the bar judges move to floor. I am going to root fir Michigan. They are amazing this year and I would love to see someone new win and if it can’t be us...

I thought LSU competed well on the first 3 events. Bars with all its struggles did its job and rose to the occasion despite being limited in areas. I couldn't ask for much more from them.
I just struggle to comprehend what the heck happened with Desiderio and Campbell on beam this post season. Desiderio was steady all year, and as soon as post season hit, it just went to hell in a hand basket.

Consistency wins. LSU hasn’t been consistent all year. Came back to bite them in the butt tonight.
Overall I’m really proud of the girls. What they did in a Covid year...don’t think we could ask for me. They did their best, and that’s all anyone could ask.

Yeah, Florida will be putting the Olympic team on the floor next year. It’s quite ridiculous. But not every great elite translates to a great college gymnast. Look at Ragan Smith for Oklahoma. She had a horrible bar routine and I think that was the only event she competed. She would probably have been a World AA Champion had it not been for a freak injury in warmups.

Are they returning? I haven’t heard any confirmations. Everyone competing this year is eligible for a 5th year. Scholarship limits still apply so it will be interesting to see what happens.

The difference was obviously in strategy/preparation. Jay was outcoached by Farden. Period.

It is disappointing that they couldn’t develop some consistency. In years past, I wasn’t nervous when Gnat or Erin or Miya or Sarah were on the beam. With these seniors, I was always on pins and needles holding my breath.
