Evans
Roy
Taylor

So so depth

Those high ankle sprains suck man. Usually not as bad for interior linemen that don't make many hard cuts, but those tend to linger for a while

I'd be surprised if Farrell played Saturday

DT is a major issue. Shouldn't be against State since they want to throw the ball so much but LSU needs to get that spot shored up before they go to Florida.

We are very deep at DLine. Guillory is a highly rated freshman DT but that’s not necessarily a position you make a large impact in as a freshman. He will have time to heal up before he’s needed in any sort of rotation. O speculated it would take two to three more weeks which is perfect timing.

When you're relying on freshman so much, not something I'd say.

If Farrell was able to play and Shelvin was back I'd tend to say we're looking much better than we are right now.

Go look at the depth chart, it will say it for you. I wouldn’t call 3rd string DT a make it or break it player. DT position group is deep.

Yep. Rest, and lots of it, is the only way to heal those.

seems like they'll want to rely on the running game early in the season, especially to test our interior d.

I'm very well connected with it. We have Logan and Ika starting then:

- Evans who has been moved back and forth from OL to DL over and over the last year
- Farrell who is not able to play right now as he gets reacclimated
- Fonua who basically never played last season on the Dline
- Roy, Guillory and Taylor who are all freshman and Guillory cant even play due to ankle sprain for a few weeks

That's not "oh yeah we're so deep" right now. Especially when you mentioned the whole DL, when you include DE it's basically a bunch of bodies with little to no experience. It's a complete misnomer to say depth looks great right now. We have no idea what we're going to get from like 80% of the guys right now

The only guys we have returning with any real good experience on the entire DLine is Logan, Ika, Anthony and Farrell but Farrell is TBD when he can even play right now.

Depth looks great right now at DL.

If you want to cry the sky is falling because a 3rd string DL has an ankle sprain, go for it. We will be ok.

Jesus, it’s like some of you are trying to argue how bad we are going to be. Lol

Maybe you need it posted again, the ONLY players returning with any actual experience are:

Logan
Ika
Anthony
Farrell - out/back end of rotation for an undetermined amount of time

Literally the entire rest of the DLine is very little to ZERO experience. That includes everyone not listed above.

I dont think you understand what "Depth" actually means. It doesnt just mean "bodies" - every single team has bodies, it's a 85 scholarship limit. We cant say we have "depth" there when they havent proved it yet, we certainly HOPE that to be the case, but saying the depth is great there right now is absolutely laughable.

Yep. Just because you have bodies doesn't mean you are "deep". Right now the only proven DT is Logan, and while he's had good moments, I don't know if I'd say he's a big time player (though that could change in the 4-3). Ika played quite a bit last season and you hope he is ready to make the jump. After that, you have Farrell who isn't ready to fully go right now and a bunch of guys who haven't played much, if at all. Taylor isn't even listed on the depth chart.

Ultimately, I think Roy will be the best of the bunch. But there may not be a steeper physical transition from HS to college than the interior DL. All of the freshmen have spent 4 years being significantly bigger and stronger than the competition. That's not the case any longer. It's a big jump from throwing around 260 lb fat kids who are now funneling beers every night to 310 lb masses of strength who are are used to battling 295 lb DT's every play.

I'd be willing to bet Farrell dresses and will play if the game dictates

Those that think the DL is not a concern are not likely ones who follow that closely enough to be a concern

DT is fine but DE is troublesome with McClendon bailing & Farrell sitting out most of summer, cause he was going to play himself into to shape to play some end
