The purpose was to insult him. It's not about him being gay or his mom being a prostitute.

I can't decide if you're being serious, oblivious or just insensitve.

He will be a high pick with the potential of being one of the faces of a franchise.. how he handles irrational questions and insulting questions is relevant to his potential draft status.. This isnt a normal interview process and maybe they felt this line of questions would give them the answers they wanted. I guarantee that most players dont reveal the levels some teams go to rattle them.. Put simply, these are more like interrogations than interviews to some teams.

He’s definitely not gay. Just feel those questions are not appropriate.

I'm assuming you meant that the purpose WASN'T to insult him. I realize that probably wasn't the intent, but that doesn't mean that it isn't the result.

What I meant is that the question was posed specifically to provoke a response.

I don't know of a better way to find out how someone will react to being provoked than to provoke them.

The NFL says it is looking into the matter.

"A question such as that is completely inappropriate and wholly contrary to league workplace policies," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said. "The NFL and its clubs are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees in a manner that is consistent with our commitment to diversity and inclusion, state and federal laws and the CBA. We are looking into the matter.

"The league annually reminds clubs of these workplace policies that prohibit personnel from seeking information concerning a player's sexual orientation," McCarthy added.

While not PC, I suspect the question was intended to gauge his reaction. If so, it’s fine. I’m sure people will say plenty of things to attempt to be in his head and get him out of his game.

If they actually care whether or not he’s gay, the question is asinine and that team is stupid, frankly. Guice is a fantastic talent.

On the one hand, it's pretty important for an NFL franchise to know how their employees handle tough, even absurd questions.

Asking these questions hasn't made the NFL any better at filtering out draft busts or unstable individuals so these questions actually aren't that useful at all.

Perhaps. Maybe the team in question is ver gay friendly and if his response had been negative towards gays they would not take him.

Then ask how would deal with a gay teammate. The question about his mother is wayyy out of bounds.
