On the one hand, it's pretty important for an NFL franchise to know how their employees handle tough, even absurd questions.

On the other hand, it's not cool when the media asks a young man a loaded question and then decides to assassinate his character. I recall Alfred Blue failing this test when a reporter asked him if the team would openly accept a homosexual teammate.

Note to players: learn to talk for minutes at a time without answering a question one way or another, without saying anything noteworthy.

This question is deeply personal and should not be asked

Supposedly also asked if his mom sells herself. That is BAD. You cannot do that.

LSU players should be great at this after years of listening to Les!

What does that have to do with his ability to play football?

nothing and it's borderline illegal to ask a question like that in an interview

Can you imagine if some company asked him that during a job interview? IMO that's a ridiculous question. Only thing I can think of is they were trying to rattle him to see how he would handle the rest of the interview.

How is this really any different than a company? IMO it's a the same thing, just that his company is a football franchise. But I agree, it is a ridiculous and highly inappropriate question to ask someone ever, much less a job interview.

NFL teams have been doing questions like this for years, not sure why this particular situation is worse than the others. They try to rattle you and see if people get under your skin easily.

Why does it even matter?
Well, Alfred Blue said he wouldnt want no gay teammates on his team at lsu at that he wouldnt respect them. So I guess it matters to him

I guess my point is that if this was a big company, there would be all kinds of outrage and most likely a lawsuit. IMO, it should be the same for the NFL. As I said in a later post, they insulted every gay man alive, him and his mother in two silly questions.

The gay thing in public still gives me the willies, but that's a me issue. Those guys deserve to be just as happy as anyone else and shouldn't have to be insulted like that IMO.

They don’t give two shits if he’s gay or not. People in the NFL come from all backgrounds, with mothers who were literally prostitutes.

The line of questioning is not meant to weed out players being gay or having a prostitute for a mother, it’s meant to test your mental fortitude and maturity under stress.

Whether teams will admit it or not, some will be passing on him because he decided to make this public.

and whether teams will admit it or not, regardless of their reasoning, asking about someone's sexual orientation in a job interview is illegal. Maybe they should cut the bullshite and conduct themselves like an actual professional organization.

It sure seems like they could find out what they want to know without insulting people.

Just in those two questions, they insulted him, his mother and all gay men. I just don't see why they need to go that route.

The purpose was to insult him. It's not about him being gay or his mom being a prostitute.

He's going to hear this type of stuff and worse on the field so apparently they want to make sure that the guy will remain focused on the game and not look to start a fight.

Not sure why this is so hard for them to comprehend. Didn’t they ask a guy in the last few years about his mother, who was an actual prostitute?

I'm assuming you meant that the purpose WASN'T to insult him. I realize that probably wasn't the intent, but that doesn't mean that it isn't the result.
