This guy does a great job of breaking down the X & Os of the offense through use of pictures and gifs. Really fun read this morning.

quote:

The run does not set up the pass. The pass sets up the run. LSU’s 2019 offense is proof of what the nerds have been saying for a few years now at the professional level. Passing is king, play action works no matter what and you should throw on early downs. A lot of these studies only make sense when looked at through the lens of having a professional quarterback making those passes. Quarterback play in the NFL keeps getting better so the gap in efficiency between running and passing keeps getting bigger. But what if your college team had a professional quarterback? What if they had one who might win the Heisman and go #1 overall in the NFL draft?

Top billin has a great YouTube channel breaking down LSU too. He gave a shite load of love to LSU in the off-season and took heat for it. He’s the one that calls joe - jugular joe.

He broke down exactly what that guys talking about how on the RPO joe held the LBer so long that he was late to react as Clyde was able to make 1 guy miss and broke off that 57 yarder.

Where’s the jackoffs now that kept saying we needed to find a way to run the ball?

God could you imagine this offend with Guice and Fournette? Jesus

I’m interested to see if they implement a double move off the RPO where Jamar fakes the slant and runs a skinny post. If the safety gets greedy like Brad Stewart did then Joe could kill them. Only thing that could mess it up would be press man.

I hope we abuse Surtain, groupie bitch.

This dovetails nicely with Matt Wyatt's analysis. He said that Joe was reading the safety to determine whether to throw or handoff. Now we know why.

Thanks for posting.

Well. This offense needs a pass pro rb, with patience and burst in the run game and the ability to catch out of the backfield.

Ah, yes, and don't forget the subtopic of Scheme vs. Personnel. Yes, we have a great QB--the same guy we had last year--and Team Scheme is looking solid these days.

Charles ate his man up on the running play. Gobble gobble.

I do not remember the play, but one play Florida called an all out blitz and their safety/linebacker hit our line full speed and it was like he ran into a brick wall called Cushenberry.

OU does this with fake WR screen, then WR takes off. When the screen has worked a couple of times earlier in the game, it works almost every time for a big play.

Seth Galina is one of the best in the business as breaking down the X's and O's. If you are on twitter and don't already follow him, I highly suggest it.

He tweets out a 4 picture breakdown that explains the whole play and then follows it with a video of the play at full speed.

I wish he didn't ramble so much. I like the info that he shares but much like Deuce Windham (he does saints videos), they talk for 10 fricking minutes before they show you a single play.

No matter what sets up what, balance like we saw in the UF game makes an offense virtually unstoppable.

For practical purposes it almost was. UF just did a great job of keeping the ball away from our offense.
