This is from the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

quote:

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Grant Delpit waited a long time to make his NFL debut, and he made sure he was worth the wait.

Playing his first pro snaps since rupturing his Achilles last August, the Browns’ 2020 second-round pick out of LSU made an immediate with a sack-fumble of rookie quarterback Davis Mills, five tackles, and a near-pick of Mills in the third quarter, and a 3-yard tackle for a loss on a Mills run a play later.

Granted, he feasted on the Texans’ third-string quarterback, but it was still an impressive confidence-building debut for a player who’s worked his tail off to come back from an injury that claims the career of about 26% of the players who suffer it.

I was so pumped the way he played. He looked like the best player on Cleveland's defense in his first game. I was very impressed.

Thanks, Chicken. I didn't link it initially since I quoted the entire segment of the article that covered Delpit. But I see that you edited that down (for copyright reasons?), so I put the link in.

Would love to see a list of every starting safety since Saban's first year.

I'd put Brandon Taylor on that list.

Happy for Delpit as well as Fulton who had a good game this week on DK Metcalf

Damien James…but didn’t he quit because he couldn’t get along with Saban?

Not quite sure... He was out last year with nerve damage in his shoulder and dealt with some nagging injuries in camp. He's not a starter, but is supposedly in the DB rotation. I haven't seen him on the field during the first two games, although he might have come in for a few plays here and there.

Hopefully the injuries that have plagued him the last two years are behind him and he can return to the form he showed his fist 2 years at LSU. As good as Jamal Adams was, I think Delpit is a better all around players, Adams definitely very good and a harder hitter.
