A at QB

Gladly take an F at TE, PK and P after Miles would load up each year at those positions.

Flop these two. They count Chaisson as a DE while he's going to play OLB in Aranda's 3-4.

How in the world do you not grade the QBs as a solid 'A'?

QB - A and I don't know how anyone can say otherwise. This is the most promising QB duo LSU has signed in years. We'll see if they can finally be developed.

RB - C is about right because we wanted two and only got one. CEH isn't a scrub like some people seem to think though. Tory Carter seems like your standard FB.

WR - C Losing Guidry at the last minute because he couldn't qualify bumped this group from respectable to average. Netherly and McMath are talented, but LSU typically recruits better here

TE - N/A unless Moffitt gets moved to offense

OL - B+ Decalus fills a need of an athletic tackle and Ingram was a HS All American as well. Charles and Stewart give us a couple of really big bodies to work with. Good numbers and good quality to help build depth.

DL - A- Everyone wants to bump this group down because we didn't get Marvin, but what we needed most was a true NT and Shelvin is the perfect guy there. He'll change this defense over the next 3 years. Farrell should develop into a contributor along the interior as well. K’Lavon Chaisson is the best pass rusher in this class, and justin Thomas and Moffitt provide strong frames and depth. Good class here even without the big fish we thought we would reel in.

LB - B+ Best class at this position LSU has had in years. Unlike the 2012 class which was high on numbers and athletes that you weren't quite sure how they would fit, this class fits across the board perfectly. Phillips and Taylor are the exact body types this defense needed and getting them both in the last month is what makes this a great class. Queen is a really good athlete as well and should be an every down backer before his time is up.

DB - A+ DBU continues and snagging Harris at the last minute was huge. I know Delpit and Jacoby are as good as it gets but Harris is elite as well. You don't pass on those guys. Kary Vincent Jr. is incredibly fast and a better corner than a lot of people expect. Jontre is slightly undersized but incredibly athletic and very football smart. He'll find a way on the field before his career is done.

ST - N/A All the scholarships for these positions are filled currently.

Overall I'd rank this class an A- by LSU standards, which is incredible considering our athletic department has shot itself in the foot repeatedly when it comes to football for two years now.

QB- B 2 above average gets, 2 different styles
RB- D only 1 3 star, undersized
WR- D no top 90 WR in the class
TE- NA
OL- B one solid OT, a couple good G
DL- D drooped the ball on 3 of our 4 biggest targets
LB- A met all of our specific needs here with real quality guys!
S- A 3 top 10 guys in 1 class
CB- B Kary is great and Kirkland was kinda a bonus, not a huge need here.

QB: A- We got two very promising prospects, and Brennan was our top target.

RB: C+ Edwards-Helaire is underrated. He won't blow you away with his size or speed, but he has the chance to be a very effective RB in college. I wish we could have landed one more back in this class.

WR: C+ We missed out on both of our top targets (Smith, Collins). We did land a great athlete in Manny Netherly, but he played QB in HS and will need time. Same goes for Jontre Kirklin, should he end up on offense (will start at CB).

TE: F We're losing two TEs who contributed a lot in the passing game, and we brought in zero players at the position. I'm not sure what that's about, other than maybe we prioritized different positions.

OL: A- We landed two difference makers in Deculus and Ingram. These guys will be staples on the line for the next few years.

DL: B- We got a really good NT in Shelvin, which we needed. But beyond that our class was underwhelming, in my opinion.

LB: A+ GREAT linebacker class. The staff really turned this position around down the stretch. Landing Phillips, Tyler, and Chaisson was YUGE. Queen is another solid player. Together with Devin White and Michael Divinity, this group is basically the future at LB.

DB: A+ Continuing the tradition of great DBs. We signed so many legit safeties we may have to put five on the field at once (j/k). Jacoby Stevens is the standout, and Kary Vincent is a really good corner.

LoL apparently you haven't watched any Mcmath film. Put his and Smith's film on and see who looks better. The only reason he wasn't ranked higher is because he didn't do a bunch of camps.
On the Dl we missed on Mathis and Wilson, who was the 3rd target we missed on?

I think the sleeper in this group is going to be WR Racey McMath. He has it all, size, speed and ball skills. How he was only a 3 star is mind boggling.

Because we have a guy coming off 2 acl surgeries on each knee and a guy that played against lower competition and will need at least a year to redshirt and another on the bench before he can get in.

While I'm optimistic with our future at QB, I can see why people would feel they weren't the greatest pull.

Agreed

He's a little raw, but he has all the tools and is just flat out dangerous with the ball in his hands. Severely underrated

As far as WR, compared to recent (5 year) LSU WR classes this the worst, that's undeniable. We lost more WRs in the last calendar year in a long time, and we didn't get much. McMath is big and fast, but still kinda raw. We didn't just miss out on Smith, we missed on Collins and we had Ausbon, and he flipped. Plus, the Guidry thing was a f*!#ING joke! How do you let that ball drop on NSD, keeping you from getting anyone else significant?!?! We did not finish with a top 90 WR. You can LOL at that all you want!
As far as DL, we had 4 big targets: Wilson, Shelvin, Mathis, Buggs. We got 1 of them and what really hurts is that Mathis and Buggs were LA guys. We didn't target any other 4 and 5 star DTs. It was a huge let down there, go look at '18 depth chart at DT and tell me how comfortable you feel!
Dude, I like the class overall for a transition year, but don't tell me I can't give a "D", the official grade for below average, to a below average WR and DT haul!

Whoever wrote that article is about as uninformed as it gets. We get 2 of the top 10 ILB in the country including the #1 and he grades that a B?

The fact he believes Ausbon defimiitting in November was bc of Craig's impending termination tells you everything you need to know.

One of the most talented athletes in the class may be Queen. With only one RB he could step in for special spot duty.

Not suggesting full time switch, but check out his RB highlights . Michigan & UCLA used talented players this year with good success.
