Never brought a TV before and trying to set one up for the SC game. We wont have anything else but a tv so it wont require that much power. Just wondering what the best way to set it up would be and what all we will need.

Going off the recomendations ive ive recieved, these are my 2 options for antenna...

[link=( https://www.amazon.com/Terk-Low-Profile-Indoor-Antenna-TV5/dp/B000069106/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1349225425&sr=8-1&keywords=Terk-TV5+antenna
)]Terk-TV5[/link]

[link=( https://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-Digital-Flat-Antenna-made-for-DTV/10542272
)]RCA[/link]

and I was going to use this as a power source

500w Dual Outlet Power Inverter

anybody see any problems I may run into with these options? or does anyone have any other recomendations? I want to be able to pick up the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.)

Just start the car every half hour for a few minutes. That Inverter will beep when the battery is low (I have the same one). Just get regular old rabbit ear type antenna. If you are outside, you won't need a powered antenna. It is a waste.

Should work. Remember to start you car up every hour or so, though.

If you are on the LSU campus you can pick up all the other channels with even a paper clip as your antenna. The rabbit ears mentioned earlier will work just fine.

Don't run it off your car battery. Pick up a cheap deep cycle batter at Walmart. They are made to be run down unlike your car battery. It should last the day and you wont have to worry about killing you car battery or dealing with starting it all the time. Plus you can move it wherever you want.

we use a small generator on a 46" tv. the generator is only a 2300 probably way more then we need. we just set it about 50' away and let her run. never even hear it running. i guess it depends if you have the room in the area you set up that far away.

I run a 26" flat screen on a setup just like that...a small battery and inverter in the back of my truck powers the setup all day long...I do bring along a cheap set of computer speakers, as the tv speaker is a little weak for open air use...

buy the cheapest set of rabbit ears you can find...I paid five dollars and get no less than a half dozen HD channels and several more non-hd...

I tailgate in alex box east...

You are getting good counsel. Remember that if you are bringing the TV from another market you will need to re-scan it to pick up the local BR channels. Also note that channel 9 (CBS) can be the hardest to pick up with a basic antenna if you are shadowed by buildings -- you may have to move the antenna and rescan several times. The rest can generally be picked up with any old rabbit-ear / loop-wire antenna. Please don't waste your money on "HD" antennas... it's just TV.
Have fun!

Thats where we will be.

How quickly does that parking lot fill up? We are looking to get there early enough to get a spot right next to some grass since the cord for that inverter isnt very long.

Im assuming there is a setting on the TV to do this?

Yeah, plug everything in and go to Menu>Setting>Channels>Auto Scan It is part of the "Setup"

Your TV may use slightly different terms, but that is usually how it works. The HD channels will be like 83.2 or 86.5
