You don’t get around much, do you?

I can’t help you if you think Hoover Met is a better ballpark than the one in Nashville, Memphis, etc.

But the league offices get to dispense a lot of patronage to their home organizations (I thought the Vestavia Hills Rebelettes did a fine job with the concession stand) so that's all that matters!

Why the cheap shot at the Rebelettes? That was the only concession stand not operated by minority groups. You could have skipped or pranced over to one of their's instead.

if i traveled to nashville or memphis, why would i spend my time there watching minor league baseball?

strange to me there are so many minor league ballpark experts here.

Did it ever occur to you that people that are local to these areas have attended? Or that people who travel for work might have gone after their meetings were over? Or that other events (concerts, races, etc.) are held there?

I’ve never been to a Memphis Redbirds game but I’ve been in and around the park multiple times for the St. Jude’s marathon. I’ve also been to games at Regions Park (meetings in Bham) and the stadium in Pensacola with family that live in town.

Figured you weren’t here when you were about 50 RV spots off your count and didn’t mention the Finlay Center and all the new stuff at tournament.
Just when you thought you'd seen it all, folks, I give you someone knighting for the venerable Hoover Met.

You do know that this is a board for LSU baseball fans, who have some experience with ballparks?

P.S. When it comes to minor league ballparks, an "expert" is anyone who has been to a minor league ballpark. It ain't rocket science, chief.

It needs to rotate. So many nice venues all over the region now. The new park downtown would be sweet but limited parking for the old people wouldn’t fly.

If only Regions Field in Downtown Birmingham was bigger. Park is a gem.. and Good People Brewing Co is across the street.

I've been to an independent league ballpark, does that count? It's like the minor leagues but without the talent.

It's always low-key ticked me off that the baseball tourney is in Hoover. It's a city no one would ever hear of if not for this. Football gets ATL, basketball gets Nashville, gymnastics gets NOLA, baseball gets...HOOVER??? There have to be at least a dozen better cities in the SEC with AAA ballparks we could use instead

Another option would be Round Rock. Solid Triple A park and the Austin area is a destination city

Hoover? It’s Birmingham’s Alpharetta but bigger. The towns over the mountain is where most of Birmingham now resides and works.

Nashville got the basketball tournament through 2035. I don't see the SEC putting two tournaments in the same city. I think the other cities bidding for the baseball tournament were New Orleans, Memphis, Duluth, Montgomery, and Jacksonville. Let's cross Montgomery and Duluth off the list first. No one wants to go there. The Zephyr's stadium is too far out of the fun part of New Orleans, so Jacksonville and Memphis would be the two I'd have rather seen. The Redbird's stadium in Memphis is legit. I haven't been to the one in Jacksonville, but it's right by TIAA and all the amenities that offers.

But instead they stuck with Hoover for God only knows what reason. I'm sure someone with the SEC in Birmingham has a way to make some coin off of it being in Hoover.

Add to the list:

- Gnats
- Allowing Vandy Whistler to press charges on someone for tapping his shoulder.
