Given how the Tigers played the game, why not go for 2 points at the end?

I thought for sure we would go for two. Had them up against the wall.

coach made that call to go for the tie.

It is what it is now.

The outcome couldn't have been any worse if we failed it.

I thought it was a given, you go for two.

Special teams were playing awful, LSU offense had the momentum.

Data and analytics say you go for two scoring a TD late in the 4th down 14. Not the last TD.

Because usually extra points are almost automatic. The thinking is that they were moving the ball well. Get the extra point and play for OT. Obviously with the benefit of hindsight, maybe going for 2 and the win would've been better. Had they gone for 2 and missed though, the board would be in an uproar over not kicking the extra point. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Either option would have been acceptable; however, If either option failed there would be a group of complaining, arm chair, second-guessers who wanted the new coach fired after his first game.

I don’t understand how people don’t get this.

Analytics say a freshman kicker with a holder that have slow snap to kick times is a dead give away. Add poor side blocking by a freshman and you get failure. You go for two here

The team was fighting hard. I can live with going down fighting.

To be fair, I don't think it was hindsight. I shite ton of people were saying it in the moment before the block kick happened.

I know what we did, did not work.

The play of special teams last night didn't warrant giving them a shot to tie it. The offense had the hot hand and momentum. So here we are with a loss, and regret.

Naked bootleg and we win.

And you know as well as I do that many/most/all of those same people would be calling for BK’s head if it wasn’t successful. They would either magically change their stance and say he should have kicked it, or they would complain about how the play call was stupid and uncreative.

Normally yes, but you play to your strengths. O made opposite error in Bama game last year, kept trying to ‘out quarterback’ Young. We had the best kicker in nation standing on sidelines watching. Now we had unproven kicker and holder who had already been exposed going in for a offense that was motivated and a gassed defense that was demoralized. In that case, you go for the jugular. O kept trying last year when he shouldn’t have.

If BK would have gone for two and not made it there would be massive criticism and calls for his head. Personally, I would have gone for two in that situation. There’s no guarantee you make that kick and then prevail in OT. LSU had the momentum. Do or die right there.

Nick Saban will be the first to tell you that you can’t be “results” driven. It’s fools gold. So just bc something didn’t work doesn’t necessarily mean it was the wrong call.

Wow, It’s just that easy? You should be a coach.

He should have gone for 2 on the TD before the last one. That way if you miss it you can go for 2 again to tie, but if you make the first, you win by 1.
