virtue signalling to justify the number of early entrants we have had in the past.
I wouldn't say that at all. White has been nothing but a class act from the beginning. People are sad to see him go, but want him to take the next step and go make a career for himself. People don't have an issue with players like White leaving early. He is a top 15 lock and has handled all of this with class. A great Tiger and a wonderful young man.

His situation is completely different from LSU's usual early departures, which consist of multiple 5-7 round guys with a few UDFA.

I thinks he's honestly torn. I think he knows that what ever he does at this point will be accepted as a classy move. The dude has done everyone right and I wouldn't mind seeing him come back to LSU to lead this defense in the offseason while Burrow leads the offense.

I think it will be a completely different team next year because of the depth and leadership at all the positions that matter. Burrow could only lead by example this year but that all changes next year. This is his offense and he will get after them especially this OL.

Wish we had him another year so all the incoming QBs could see how to lead a college team. Myles is watching close though so I have no doubt that he'll take it where he left off. Myles needs to start this year IMO. Start barking orders to help Burrow though. Only in line with what Burrow wants and needs. Get some good practice at it and then take leadership when he leaves.

That's really how an offense is supposed to be ran. We've had too many quiet QBs who didn't know how to lead in the past and it trickled down. Even Mett was this loose crazy type of leader who led by example. You have to do both. Lead by example and push the others to follow. That's when this thing becomes special. I think Stingley will be a natural leader out there next year but we have Delpit to lead that DB room also.

With Stingley, Brooks, Delpit, Stevens, White, Phillips and Chassion back on the field together, that's some serious athleticism. Not many schools will have that type of talent on the field at the same time. You get those DLman in tip top shape and we'll have a real championship defense. That should be this staffs main focus this offseason. Get the OL and DL in the best shape you can possibly get them and figure out how to score in the RZ on offense. If LSU does those 2 basic things, we'll be in the playoffs next year and compete with anyone.

I understand, but no one knows what’s in his best interest except for him. Thus, we want an All American and the best MLB in CFB to return. If he decides to go, we will all love him and wish him the best as we follow his career.

If he's saying that he is "torn" it means that he is going to enter the draft. He's softening the blow.

???

Giving people hope for returning only to do what everyone thought was going to happen is "softening the blow"?

I just hope he’s got his hands on a legit insurance policy if he’s considering staying.

We are talking about two different things. Of course everyone with a functioning brain understands that DW is ready to go pro and cannot reasonably improve his draft stock - thats not the question. We have people cheering for and championing the decision of he and others to leave early. Its literally virtue signalling. Look at me, I'm on the players side! You can't blame them for leaving etc etc. A lot of that is a reaction to so many leaving early that instead of admitting we have (had perhaps) an issue, they choose to rationalize it away. People don't like to admit shortcomings of themselves or people/things they love. Welcome to the condition called being human.

What about Devin White have you ever seen in his DNA that he would just do something for show or with a lack of sincerity? If he was sure, he would have made his decision. He stayed and played in the bowl with a depleted defense that needed him. He doesn't have to stand on ceremony for any reason and he knows that.

Would love to have him as a senior leader but i think we need lawerence more to stay. I would love both but lawerence has more to prove. If white wants to stay to try for a NC then im good with that as well

As much as I would want him to stay he really needs to go. It is the best decision for him imo.

My best advice Devin is to take your time, think it over, weigh the possibilities and come to a decision on TUESDAY.

Yes, and that’s why I said it doesn’t make sense for me that people want to let him leave without any context. Sure, anything can happen, and I’ll support whatever decision he makes. What if we had an all star QB, who would be a great draft pick, should we just want him to leave the team? I definitley want Devin to return, but the decision he makes I will be behind him as will the fan base.

Man, he obviously loves college life and loves being a LSU tiger, but he has to go pro.. Well, actually he has to do what he feels is best for him, but if it's about getting a degree, he can do that online or when his pro days are over... If football is going to be his career, he needs to go to the league..

Seriously, why the hell do you people want him to leave? Money is money. He will make plenty of money. He will be successful either way. He is that type of person.

Money can't by experiences that are once in a lifetime. Senior season with his teammates and a shot at reaching the top of the mountain cannot be purchased. Once he leaves he can't go back. He knows that. That I'd why the decision is hard. That Clemson DT is a perfect example. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesnt... but someone in that position sees more than just dollar signs.

Yes it does. Greedy quit the team immediately with a bowl game still to play and appeared thankless.

If Devin white acts like its this big emotional decision bc he loves LSU so damn much, ppl will react much less negatively.. i know I will.

All Devin White had to do was not quit on the team with a bowl game to play and appear thankless.

He already did that. How are you missing this?
