First, it is important to watch the 2 remaining games that may stop UH from getting into the playoffs. Louisville on 11/17 and the American Conf championship game on 12/3. Note: Agreed that it is not an automatic they get into the playoffs as an undefeated 13-0 team, but they could be. If they get in, then Herman can likely justify leaving. He would have done tons for UH. If they lose, he can likely justify leaving as well.

UT/Strong and TAMU/Sumlin - We need them to win 9 or 10 games each so they cannot justify replacing them with Herman (yes, it is well-known Herman wants to stay I Texas, but I do not think he would leave UH for any other Texas job, and LSU is the most likely available national level that is appealing)

If Herman somehow makes the playoffs, we will have to wait until January to get him. This means dealing with another Miles dumpster fire seasons.

Miles: If he somehow switches Qb's -and has good luck in the change- then maybe we salvage a decent season. Lindsey and Etling together might could do this. This is not very likely, as he is as un-humble as Trump and seems to be as hard-headed as they come, so we shouldn't hold our breath. Most likely, before or at seasons end, He gone.

We would risk a top level recruiting class, have to endure another tough season of underachieving, maybe lose some to transfer, but all of that would be worth it to have Herman for the forseeable timeframe.

God be with us.

If Oklahoma defeats Ohio State and Houston runs the table, I don't see how you keep them out.

There is no way in hell that Texas fans would be content with retaining a coach who has a hypothetical record of 19-18 after three seasons (20-18 if he wins the bowl game).

Slow down there buddy! If you really think we can outbide him at a school with WAAAY more money than LSU at this day in age which is arguably the best coaching job in America, youre delusional. Lets hope the Longhorns keep winning. Big win last night

This has been posted a lot around here. Other than just the echo chamber, I don't think there is any reason this is true, unless someone can post a link where he indicated the same.

He is from Texas, started his career in Texas, family is in Texas.

My only thing with him, well a couple things... First, would he even want to come here? Second, is he going to jump ship to Texas or A&M once they open up?

The SEC would be shitting their pants if LSU got Herman. Can you imagine Herman with Aranda and Orgeron still on staff? Recruits would be hearing down the door

None of it matter is Houston goes to the Big 12. With Herman they'd awaken a very long sleeping giant.

I would love Herman, but don't feel like hearing about him coming here all year long. It's a longshot! Last year was the time to get him. Most likely he will stay at Houston in big12 for 5mil per yr plus 5mil bonus. If not he will have his choice between LSU, Texas, A&M, Aub, USC, and a few other huge teams who will get rid of there coach a year early for a young superstar coach

Wiki says he was born in Cincinnati and grew up in Simi Valley, CA. He still has family in Ohio.

Good thing we've got Alleva and F*King at the helm. No way they'll mess up the timeline on a personnel decision.

This matters because right now we're so dominant with all of these top recruiting classes

Careful. Herman has freak quarterback. This is the Curley Hallman hire. Curley looked great beat Bama etc but in retrospect it was really all Favre. He came to LSU and they looked hapless. Now it does seem that Herman has done a spectacular job developing this quarterback and BH who is not by any means a dumb kid has been at Manning Passing Academy and been worked with no doubt incessantly. And yet for whatever the reason he's behind Malachi, over Malachi's head consistently - on short hook patterns even. And of course the baffling q4 interception 2 yards from the green line. It's like Les has told him Malachi is tall and can out jump anyone so throw it high. Ultimately Les's fault. JJ/Jlee thing was really inexcusable. JLee was #3 qback recruit from TEXAS! his year, that's agood quarterback and JJ had lots of athletic ability. Met was able to overcome Les and have a decent career. Swarms of NFL talent and can't get it done against Arkie Wisky etc not to mention no shot of beating Bama. LSU has only one way to move the ball (Bugga) and playing 9 on 5 or 6 even that monster can't win most downs. Time to thank Les and move on.

LSU first needs to can Alleva. LSU is fixing to be in the head coach hiring business. Mens and women's basketball coaches will also need new hires. LSU probably needs to go ahead and let Alleva go. This lets Miles and coaching staff know that their days are numbered. Try to retain Aranda and BeBe. Get the new coach ready to go and then let the new AD make the hire. No chance in hell is LSU letting Alleva hang around
