Georgia gets their man, LSU botches their plan

Pretty spot on assessment of what happened over the last few weeks.....
Georgia gets their man, LSU bothches their plan

Awkward.
The idea to leak Miles’ potential ouster to the local press, which then quickly mushroomed nationally, obviously proved to be a major mistake for LSU. Meanwhile Miles, who I’m convinced could fall out of an airplane from 3,000 feet and land squarely on his feet, played his PR cards absolutely perfectly.
He never displayed a hint of anger or lashed out during press conferences (and there were a few) that questioned his job status. Miles consoled a crying "Sadie From Denton, Texas" at what figured to be his final radio show ever last Wednesday at TJ Ribs, hugging and consoling the young girl who feared her favorite coach was soon gone. Miles genuinely emerged as a sympathetic figure, despite the fact he’d walk away with $15 million dollars if fired.
quote:+
To the contrary, LSU looked like Fredo trying to protect "The Godfather" in the classic movie, bumbling to get a handle on their pistol and then watching it spin and fall to the street below without getting off a shot.
quote:
What we do know, is that both Georgia and LSU had a movement in recent weeks to replace their head football coach. Both men had long runs of success (although Miles made two trips to the national championship and won one, zero on both counts for Richt in four more years on the job), but likewise experienced fatigue factors with their respected fan bases. One school moved quietly through the night towards their goal, while the other triggered car alarms and barking dogs.
The Bulldogs got their man. LSU, botched their plan.

save that article for 3 years from now when Georgia is looking again!

I'd be pissed if we settled for a coordinator
Too much uncertainty. See Muschamp and Strong
They'll be better coaches to be had next year IMO with less competition if we need to make a move

Yeah Georgia should've been able to do better

No doubt we botched our plan, but we wouldn't have if we were just trying to hire Kirby fricking Smart. It's a little tougher to lure an NC winning Head Coach who already makes $1.2M more than your current HC away from another prominent program.

I don't disagree with you.
However, if your a fan, why do think it's cool to be slamming one of our players like you're doing to Fornett? I'm really curious?

so Georgia didn't have leaks and their man, an unproven assistant coach, took the job (for a huge raise).
while LSU went for a home run hire and the prospective hire tried to milk them for Saban-like money.
so why do these type of bull shite comparisons come up? how much of a buy out did UGA pay to "make Richt resign". UGA got rid of a successful coach and hired an unproven commodity.
maybe, just maybe, IT WAS GEORGIA THAT frickING BOTHCHED IT.
so some media guy spins LSU in a bad light. frick them. but when our frickin' fan base amplifies it and constantly agrees with anybody trashing our own school it pisses me off.

He knows why you have the signature pointing out what everyone already knows, even Miles supporters.
We've lost 5 in a row to Alabama. It sucks.
But 5 complete teams of LSU players have lost to Bama and his question is why single out LF?

well one thing we could learn form Georgia is how to go about it. Even though I can't believe they traded in Richt for Smart (that part of it seems weird) they did handle it the right way.
I don't think Fisher would have been the home run choice that everyone on here seems to think either so I'm glad the way it played out THIS YEAR for LSU.
But next year maybe we could work it out right for all involved, including doing it with great respect for Coach MIles, and transition to a good young coach like Tom Herman (he needed at least another year as a HC anyway)
Regardless of how this season plays out maybe it should start happening behind the scenes during the season and then announced only after everything is locked down. Give Miles some honorary position if he wants it and build a statue of him.

I don't think that the article was praising who UGA hired but the process that both LSU & UGA took in trying to find a new HBC.
Perception of the process & aftermath for each school.

Wouldn't you guess it might have been a "sig bet" and some Bama fan made the sig that the "losing side" had to use?
THAT would be my supposition.
Seems to me that NavyTiger is an honorable dude and is paying his bet.
ON TOPIC:
2 differences -
1) The "Richt is in trouble" talk started early in the season, so there was time for the 'cooling off' period and some decisions to be made with more forethought.
2) UGA hired an alum, coordinator. That would be EASY to do.

Duh my bad I'm sure that's it.
Well hopefully he won't have to keep it much longer.

Dude. We lost a bet to Bama fans because we counted on the team to actually win. They made the signature. We're honoring the bet.

Remember a couple of years ago when the negatigers thought Sumlin was better than Miles and was jealous of A&M?

Sadie saved Les.
I'll have a laugh with her dad about that.
