I've been attending LSU games since 1985. I was at the Earthquake Game. I was at the LSU/Florida game in 2007. I didn't expect Saturday's gameday experience to be as awesome as either of those - nothing as important was on the line - but the weather was great, it was a long weekend, it was Senior Day, it was a night game, the team was 8-3 and one loss out from winning the SEC West, and everybody hates A&M. So what the hell?

The stadium wasn't even CLOSE to sold out. It wasn't loud. You had to have players practically freaking beg the crowd to make some noise. I got looks when I was yelling at A&M pre-snap.

I know there have been some changes recently. I thought the balance between the band and the piped in music has improved. (And side note: I love the new band director! Halftime was awesome once again!) Yes, the concessions were absolutely HORRIBLE and something LSU *must* address for next year. The ticket prices haven't changed that I'm aware of, though I know parking has gotten worse.

So where the hell was everyone? Why did this feel like going to a freaking Dallas Cowboys game instead of a game in freaking Tiger Stadium on Saturday Night?!?!

I don't buy the "well it's a crappy season - when they play for a NC we'll be back" excuse either. It was NOT a crappy season. There were two crappy games, but it was a good season and we're heading to a New Year's Day bowl game. And honestly if that is your excuse, then that's pretty sad. I was there during the Archer, Hallman, and DiNardo years. Those stadiums weren't sold out either but they were rocking anyhow, and had a lot fewer seats on top of that.

There's this holiday that was a couple days before. One where people travel to see family.

As TH03 said, the Thanksgiving week game is historically kind of empty.

This is what happens when you hire Ed Orgeron as your head coach. I had extra tickets to several games this year and could not give them away.

This is why I laugh at the posts complaining that LSU is pricing out the blue collar crowd. You could have very easily seen every single LSU home game this year for no more than a couple hundred bucks.

Well, except maybe for people in Palo alto, CA, Ann Arbor, MI, Auburn, AL, Columbia, SC, .....

Face it, LSU fans in 2017 are a pale shadow of fans in the previous decade.

Attendance has always been down for the game after thanksgiving. They would rarely fill it up for Arkansas.

Between the Holidays and hunting season, the last weekend in Tiger Stadium rarely sells out.

The game was fun. Stadium wasn't as loud as it can be, but that had to do with the mediocre aggies.

Funny how that mimics the level of the team they're supporting. Every school, every sport --> great team, great crowds. Mediocre teams, mediocre crowds.

I agree 100%. You could hear a pin drop with senior introductions. We should build statues of seniors as few as we keep, and we can't even muster a soft roar.

The rest of the game was much the same unfortunately. The place was a shell of itself.

I think the Troy loss combined with the enevitability that has become second or third place in the SEC has created widespread apathy.

Tailgating was solid though.

Honestly man the crowd is always going to be lacking for the game after Thanksgiving. Unless it's a crazy matchup like Ohio State v. Michigan, the Iron Bowl, or matchups that have national or conference title implications, every stadium will be lacking for those games.

Texas A&M will never be a sell out draw on Thanksgiving weekend unless one or both teams are ranked in the top 10

I do agree with this. However, I think if the Athletic Dept did some things to improve the gameday experience in TS, it would alleviate a lot of these threads. Its all in the fine details that leave a bad/good taste in peoples mouth. Its not always about the Win/Loss column.

Not sure I agree. I went to the game last minute, and had a hard time finding two tickets, and finally overpaid from scalper. Stadium seemed pretty full except for upper level corners. Thought crowd got loud on third downs, but there wasn't much drama in the game, besides a couple of drunks in front of us arguing over foul language and a spilled bourbon and coke on a couple of ladies and the blown coverage when aggies scored their second td.

You didn't look too hard. I stood outside the gate with three extra tickets for about 5 minutes with no less than 10-15 other people doing the same and literally could not give the tickets away. I finally just went into the game.
