Last week was a massive choke job. Play calling was horrendous. We should have drove up and down the field all game vs that defense. Looked like AA took the next step and Lacy played with confidence. We do need someone to step up at rb though.

was surprised to hear that. I don’t know what they’re seeing, but I’m not seeing it. I love the tigers, but we are not a great team, 8 or 9 wins is not great, it’s good

this is what soured me. They were playing 2 safeties deep, giving us underneath passing routes all game. Nuss was 20-24 for almost 200 yards, and in rhythm. BK comes on at halftime and says he wanted to establish the run in the second half. The 4th quarter was infuriating, we ran the damn ball 9 times in the quarter for 15 yards...and mostly ran on first down....the underneath was still there. This loss was on play calling and a few untimely penalties....and honestly, yes it is football, but LSU got no breaks on the balls bouncing on the ground are opportunities for picks.

Yep, 4 turnover worthy plays, none of them ended up being turnovers. Bad bounce luck

quote:. Totally agree. Just like the opening games the last 2 years. No one has a killer instinct, just like Coach Kelly said. Not the coaches, certainly not the players. So we will be eight or nine wins - maybe 10 if we get lucky bounces- and that’s what we have, until that aspect changes.

That an indictment of your football knowledge, not theirs.

Saban has always loved LSU.....we gave him his real start to success.

Ah yes, we will continue to ride a one game sample size and use it as a measuring stick for the rest of the season.
We beat the brakes off of FSU the previous two years if we play them at the end of the year (even with a fully healthy Jordan Travis). Staff and players learn a ton from each loss. We learn nothing about this team tonight other than who might be a better backup at certain key positions.
Well I think that's the point. Right now we are a good not great team. We don't know how good we will be in 6 weeks.
Also it's funny that you just assume that LSU improved throughout the year, but FSU didn't. Jordan Travis would have torched our defense even at the end of last year.

That game was too close to write LSU completely off the rest of the reason, anyone with objective reasoning can see that.
True.
But

objective reasoning

Because they are right. This team is not bad (and I believe still have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs). People are way overreacting to that loss.

Did they pick us to win today?

Almost like we shouldn't play these games week 1

USC played well.
Good players , they looked big and fast.
Not a pushover
Made more plays than we did and got more lucky breaks than we did.
Sometimes that's what it takes to win
They had better coaching too .. IE not running a drop back formation to get a 4th and one near the goal line. (Lets run 6 yards to get it instead of one)

You don’t love the tigers you love being a negative prick.

I agree. USC is better than one may have thought they were. We played more loosely, got shite on by the refs, and still controlled the game.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda, and yet it was an overall well played game with a competent defense. We are fine.

Those 2 fumbles they got back hurt worse than anything. Both times the ball went straight to the only usc player around.

But the rant told me 7-6.

The question is what would daniels have done later? He sat the second half out against them last year....it appears.
