I think LeBlanc's gradual improvement bodes well too and I think Mwani will also develop nicely and get more responsibility next year.

Shareef will have to step up and we'll have to get some instant help from a couple of the frosh, but I think it's a good opportunity to set a new culture with less of the iso stuff that has led to some bad offensive habits, even though offensive efficiency-wise we're top 10 most of the year.

For the two true freshman... yea they will probably be better. The team that will lose at minimum it’s 3 best players, probably not.

Coach said that Fudge, who is on campus, could help the team now, except he had an agreement with his parents not to play him this season.
Sounds positive for the future.
If O'neal can ever get completely healthy.

He's just saying the freshmen will be good next year. He's not saying abandon team goals this year.

Certainly having O'Neal healthy will help greatly next season. Hopefully, Cook's talents will be better utilized.

Also, I hope the coaching staff does a better job of encouraging a strong defensive mindset.

The offense is going to need a playmaker next season (rather than guys who can just get shots on their own like Smart, Watford, Thomas can). Gaines has shown glimpses of being such a player (particularly his court vision). With more maturity and physical development he can be a Ja Morant style player. He's that electric. It just has to be harnessed and refined.

Both need to develop their 3 point game. They both play defense well, but both are getting abused by bigger players, esp Gaines( too skinny) kids just drive on him, lean into him and get a layup ( and one) with him reaching , usually. Gaines also seems more out of control, gets in more traps with no where to go. Really haven’t seen Cook that much, but from what I’ve seen, he’s got better vision and feet, and may be a better true point.

Cook is a much better offensive player than people realize. He’s someone who can get into the paint and finish vs primary coverage or drop dimes when help comes. Gaines has a ton of potential offensively because he has rare speed is long and pretty creative. His speed will be even more pronounced as a 2 when he can use shot fakes from a triple threat position instead of doing everything off the dribble. They’ll also get us back to what we do best, attacking on the drive and giving our athletes offensive rebound opportunities. With their ability to wear down guards using their ball pressure they could be a dynamic pair.
