Who has LSU faced this year that has a defense similar to Alabama?

Seemed like the offense held it's own against Ga and struggled with Fla pass rush.

MSU and AU had their moments in disrupting the offense at times.

They play similar style to UGA with much better talent this year. UGA really misses a couple guys on defense from last years squad, most notably Roquan.

They are very aggressive and don't need to blitz to get pressure on the QB. Buggs (sigh) is a sack machine.

I started a topic that discusses some of this. LSU has faced 5 defenses in the top 34 of defenses. Bama has faced 1.

Battle Tested Tigers vs Bama

I think MSU and UF have had one of the best DL's in the country. They both gave us issues in pass protection and running the ball. So we have had to deal with really good DL's already.

Considering the weak opponents that Alabama has played you would think their defense would be at the top

I believe Mississippi State has the best defense we will see all year. State went 2-14 on third down, which caused them to wear down. But when that group is fresh, they are nasty.

I'd say Georgia.

I mentioned to my son (he's a sophomore at LSU) that I noticed both Georgia and Alabama seemed uncharacteristically soft in the middle of the Dline and that LSU may be able to exploit that early with the run and then take advantage later on the edges and with passes if they creep up LBs and safeties.

Bama allows 113.4 YPG 3.54 YPC (8 games, 907 yards on 256 caries)
Georgia allows 136.3 YPG 4.17 YPC (7 games, 954yards on 229 caries)

Take the LSU game out (275 yards on 51 carries, 5.4 YPC)
Georgia allows 113.2 YPG 3.81 YPC (6 games, 679 yards on 178 carries)

I sure hope we can do that to Bama.

Based off of Kirby being the HC at UGA made this my initial thought for similarity. MSU and UF seemed to give us fits for establishing the run and disrupted any long developing pass plays.

All four of them had very similar D-lines to Bama. I believe Florida's defense has similar LB's to Bama. Would give Bama DB's the nod over Florida, but it's a slim nod.
