re: FYI: Flyby for tomorrow's game
when Space Force does a flyby.

I'd be willing to bet they do a flyby almost daily with some of their low earth orbit satellites.

By 2050 they'll be almost 100 years old?

Every aircraft we have today (all H models, 76 total) rolled off the assembly line in either 1961 or 62. First flight of the YB-52 took place in 1952.

You must have somehow missed them. Barksdale first got B-52s in 1963. Those were D models, famously known as the "Big Belly" mod. The D model could hold 84x 500 lb bombs in the bomb bay plus another 24x 500 lbs bombs under the wings for 108 total. By comparison, H models can only carry 27x 500 lb bombs in the bomb bay. The D model is the one that most people think of when they think of B-52s in Vietnam even though we flow E, F, and G models in Vietnam as well. Back then, the H model was nuclear only and was doing either ground or airborne alert (Chrome Dome) for the Cold War.

Also appreciate your service! Thanks for making the commitment and putting yourself in harms way

My pleasure, but thank you. It's what I wanted to do since I was a little kid.

When they dropped the 500 hundred pounders the ground shook for miles.
Left craters big enough to bury a neighborhood

A friend of mine's dad was a Marine at Khe Sahn and used to tell me how the B-52 strikes would have him bouncing in his foxhole.

If they do, they didn't pass that through HQ for approval...so I hope they don't. I also never saw any requests in the system for anyone to do either static displays (i.e. parked on the ground there) or flybys. If anyone knows the folks that run the Hammond Airshow, I can help them get requests in the system for both.

Can I get an approval for a flyby over my patio? I would like to buy you a beer or 9 some time in the bossier area.

Takes General Officer approval for that kind of thing, and that ain't me.

If you live close enough to the traffic pattern, I could probably convince one of my buddies to just "be a little off" as they fly around the traffic pattern.

Sounds good to me!

Interesting. They have F-15’s from Belle Chase on their website’s schedule. No mention of the BUFF though. Maybe different flight of Eagles for that

All, I can tell you is what I know from the AFGSC side (bombers). We were asked to approve of the dissimilar formation of 1x B-52H and 2x F-15Cs for the flyover. I coordinated that approval and my boss (1-star General) approved it. That notification was pushed to the 2nd Bomb Wing Commander today.

I can't speak to what the 159th Fighter Wing's schedule shows.

Then you get a flyby almost every day the wind is blowing from the south. I used to live in Cypress Bend off of Benton Road and our house was just inside the final approach fix of the ILS approach to runway 15. Back in my active flying days, I would use our targeting pod to look at the house and driveway to make sure no Jody's were visiting.

I’m northwest from where you were, just east of Kingston road. If you ever saw the white deer pic floating around on fb, that was in my backyard.

thx you for your service brother,

Daequilizer, is that all you got?

Sounds like you could not lace the boots of those that pilot the planes and those who serve.

Go get another latte and dream of doing something like this.
