Fulton suiting NCAA to be able to play for LSU in 2018
SI - According to NCAA policy, an athlete involved in a case of “clearly observed tampering” with a drug test is banned from competition for 730 days, or two full calendar years—whether his own sample is positive or not.

SI - The Fultons are fighting back against the NCAA, exposing what many refer to as a “harsh” penalty for a misconceived decision of a then 18-year-old college freshman.

SI- Kristian Fulton’s emotionally charged boycott of LSU games has resulted in his father and he spending fall Saturdays laying in Kristian’s bed at his Baton Rouge apartment, the LSU Tigers—his team—playing on the television before them.

“Hard?!” Kristian’s father, Keith, says. “Hard is not the word. It’s been tough, tough on me, my family, tough on him. A lot of people think he was on steroids. That’s not the truth.”

SI- He passed the test—the very same test at which he attempted to cheat.

SI - “He thought the test tested for marijuana, too,” Keith Fulton said. “He had smoked (marijuana) two days before.”-

SI - Equipped with new evidence and a high profile attorney, the Fultons this week will file a last-ditch appeal with the NCAA in an effort to get their son eligible for the 2018 season.

SI - LSU denied a request to make Fulton available for an interview for this story, and school administrators declined to comment on the matter.

His dad was such an a hole on here. Glad Fulton’s being punished. Least favorite tiger! Smoked marijuana two days before the test... what a genius!

I understand the appeal, but I can’t seem to get past the whole “he smoked marijuana” deal.

Not getting into a pro/anti weed debate, but he knew he wasn’t supposed to smoke it. I know that most of them do, but he did it apparently and knew he wasn’t supposed to.

Actions have consequences and I preach that to my kids. Do they always listen? No.

I hope he plays and the NCAA overturns their ruling, but a part of me also says if he hadn’t smoked weed they wouldn’t be there.

I hope it turns out well for Fulton and I do think the 2 year suspension is disproportionate when you look at professional sports standards.

That being said, the theme from the old Baretta show keeps coming up:

"Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. No, no don't do it!"

And I bet you wouldn't say a piece of that to either of their faces. You were 18 and made your own share of mistakes as well, especially in pressure situations. Also, bashing a kid because you didn't like what his dad said on a free sports forum shows that you may be a huge pussy or your the most sensitive man on Earth. It's childish and you need to grow up

In one of the other threads it was insinuated that he still smokes pot. Kinda hard to get fired up to support a kid for being falsely accused of performance enhancing drug use only to have him not make it onto the field anyway due to failed weed tests.

The smoking weed part is irrelevant except for the fact that it was the impetus for him attempting to cheat the drug test

Arguably he could have smoked, failed the test, and would have played LAST season

The only issue is if taking away 40% of a college athlete's eligibility is a reasonable punishment for tampering with a drug test in light of the fact that other, seemingly more serious violation (including those in violation of state law) appear to warrant lesser punishments.

We have great starters at cb but we are thin. Adding fulton to the mix would be huge.
