I don’t know what to take away from that. On one hand it is God awful how susceptible we are against the deep ball, on the other hand outside of those 4 plays our defense really played lights out. We forced basically a pick 6, and shut them down on 3rd down.

Yet we still have people running wide open. Completely inexcusable. Clean that up and all of a sudden we have a legit D but until this stops we wont be competing with the big dogs this year.

I agree, I think our defense showed some big improvement, and I think we can slow down A&M as they like to run. Trask will set records against us though I’m afraid, it will be deep ball city all day long.

I was just thinking the same thinking the same thing, but add in Alabama to the list.

Those two games will get very ugly with explosive plays.

The key was when ricks went out
They immediately went after ward and that was the issue
Then stingley goes out
Kudos for those guys stepping up at the end

LSU defense forced 6 or 7 three and outs. The offense should capitalize on those. I know the game plan was to keep the ball to let the D rest but still they should come up with points.

The first deep pass was a miscommunication...again.

However, the next one was a backup CB fresh into the game simply getting beat.

Overall, the defense was better. It hurt having essentially two backup CB's in the second half, but the safety play on this team is bad. I don't know if it is the scheme, the players, or both. But those guys seem perpetually lost. Given that the two starters (Stevens and Harris) look worse this year than at any other point in their careers, I'm more apt to believe it is the defensive philosophy slightly moreso than the players. Clearly the players either haven't bought in to Pelini's defense and/or they just aren't understanding it. Either way, kudos to Orgeron for wanting to recreate the 2003, et USC defenses...nearly 20 years later when the offensive play has changed significantly since that time AND he doesn't have the players to run it.

If Cox doesn’t pick that ball off, it’s another TD. Receiver was wide arse open

It shows some progress, but there are still major issues to address in the secondary. And I know some of the issues yesterday were compounded by losing Ricks and then Stingley, but even with some suspect depth it shouldn’t be that bad.

We literally have the worst defense in college football in terms of yards per attempt.

Franks also missed some easy throws that would have kept their drives alive. Those are throws that Jones, Trask, etc. don't miss.

Texas A&M is going to expose many more defensive problems that we have.

The defense is extremely vulnerable to the kinds of plays in which Bama, UF and Ole Miss excel.

Yes they got those big completions but only one was a bust. At least you had guys in position they just got beat. Not great but progress for this team.

But he did, so your point is stupid.

I’ve never seen anything like it in my 33 seasons of fandom.

The closest game I can compare it to is the NO vs MIN ‘87 Wild Card Game.

A&M is going to torch us. I think most people can see it coming. Our only chance to keep it close is for long clock eating drives similiar to yesterday. Problem is A&Ms defense ain’t the Hogs defense.

Pass rush (across the front, average) was absolutely terrible. Arky's OL sometimes just kind of shoved our guys back with a 2-hand shiver. When their was hand fighting it was Arky's OL slapping our guys hands to their side.

You rarely see a DL just get completely stymied on a pass rush. Only when it is P5 vs. FCS. But that's what happened. OL didn't even have to give ground many times... on pass rush.
