Fournette vs Guice
Posted by Earthquake on 10/24/16 at 12:56 pm147
I love Guice and I'm glad he is in our team, but after Saturday night there should be know more talk about Guice being as good as Fournette.
Fournette is clearly better and the best running back in college football.

FWIW Guice would have had very similar stats as LF7 with the holes he was running through

I agree Guice just seems timid when LF is available. LF hit the holes quick Saturday night while Guice looked like he was on dancing with the stars.

I disagree.

Guice is really good but LF just has another gear. It's amazing how a man as big as him gets to his top speed so quickly.
He looked like he was shot out of a cannon on all 3 of his long runs. Guice's long runs usually involve more broken tackles and setting up his blocks.

Even if you take away the 3 big runs, Fournette still had 13 for 71 compared to Guice's 16 for 57. Fournette was just that good Saturday night, even compared to Guice.

LF will go down as the best RB to ever play at LSU in my opinion. We are very fortunate to have both at same time. Guice will be feature back next year and will have chance to make his own path. But Guice is the fastest of the 2 backs per the coaching staff.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Fournette's greatness. But Guice at RB on these plays and it's the same result

LF7 had the fastest recorded time for any player on the team this season against ole miss

"FWIW Guice would have had very similar stats as LF7 with the holes he was running through" guice had holes but he was "tip toeing" through them. [b]I think guice problem is that he was trying to outshine fournette, trying to score everytime he got the ball instead of just getting the yards at hand instead of the 4 yd run he wanted to match those 65 yd runs and so on. I think he will re group next game because we will definitely need him against bama. he should get more action in the slot, its no linebacker on Alabama that can cover him imo.

Woof, hell of a hold on the LB #3 on that play.
On both plays there was a nice hole, but perhaps Guice dances around waiting on the FB to pick up a block that he actually missed on the 59 yarder and eventually gets tackled for a modest gain. Maybe Guice waits for the WRs to pick up the blocks on the longer run instead of running right past them. Who knows?
Same amount of carries vs same team
Fournette 16-284
Guice 16-57
Can't get more democratic in judgement than this game and it's not close fournette is in another universe than guice.
Fournette is a top 10 pick and all pro talent guice is a borderline all conference back. I don't know if people realize how big of a gap that is.

You are actually very incorrect and let me explain why. LF7 is one of the rare type of RBs that runs full speed in a straight line out of the backfield and it is typically only until he meets the safety or a corner down the field that he makes cuts etc etc.
Guice is a very shifty with great mobility. With that said, I haven't seen him start running full speed out of the backfield with the purpose of going straight and running over anything that comes in his way and haven't seen that while he was playing at CHS either. Instead, Guice will make some nasty cuts to make defenders miss.
So you saying he would have similar stats could not be more incorrect

Guice is really good. LF7 is Great. It feels like sometimes those holes are so big because the defense really doesn't want to try and tackle him. There is fear there.
