LF looks like a stud and probowl/ allpro candidate at the very least so far in the NFL. When Tiger fans compare the two, it's obviously based on what they've done in purple and gold, not in the NFL. Anyone who thinks Guice will be a better pro is just hating on LF for whatever reason. I think Guice will have a very productive NFL career but not an every down workhorse type like LF.

So, for the sake of argument here's their NCAA stats while playing for LSU. Obviously Guice's current year is marred with injury but LF played hurt often as well.

Discuss.

Career totals:

LF - att 616, yds 3830, avg 6.2, td 40
rec 41, yds 526, avg 12.8, td 1

DG - att 316, yds 2187, avg 6.9, td 23
rec 18, yds 154, avg 8.6, td 1

Both Fournette and Guice were criminally underused in the passing game.

LF's receiving jumped out at me as well. 12.8 per reception, doesn't seem right.

Fournette is the GOAT

Guice is very good, but let's not confuse very good with GOAT

Watching him wreck that Auburn team was one of my favorite games as a Tiger.

I love me some Guice but any fricking assclown that thought he was capable of stepping in and filling LF's shoes with no drop off needs their heads examined.

LF is a generational talent. It is criminal that he wasn't invited to New York for the Heisman in 2015, even with the three game slide.

It's also a disgrace that O purposefully took the single game record from him a month after he shattered it in a Bo Jackson type performance against Ole Miss, but I digress.

ETA: I'm still basking in the laughter from everyone that clowned me when I took him in the first round of multiple fantasy drafts this year. BUGA!!!

I love Guice but there's no comparison. There is a Guice in every draft class there's only 1 or 2 Fournettes every 20 years.

I'll tell my grandchildren stories in 30 years about LF7 against Auburn 2015 and Ole Miss 2016.

Guice has not had that type of impact on me

That game against auburn is my favorite performance I've seen in Tiger Stadium. LF7 looked superhuman that game.

Imagine what Fournette could have done in a better offense.

He would have had fewer carries and likely not had the volume to put up the numbers he did. In a better offense, we have a better record

More carries doesn always equal more yards.

A better, diversified offense, that defenses had to respect the pass and he could have gotten 150 yards a game on 15 carries if it wasn't against stacked boxes.

I've seen every LSU running back since the mid 80's. he's the best I've ever seen and it's not close. He's probably one of the top 10 college running backs of all time. When you consider that defenses had to give zero respect to LSU's passing game for his whole career, and he ran every down into 8 and 9 man frnote, and yet still broke huge runs every game? Wow.

If he'd had a coach that had a competent offense, or a quarterback or say, played for Alabama, he'd have likely broken every record in the books (except for possibly Barry Sanders single season mark)

Prime, healthy Leonard Fournette in a game for your life... who would you sub in for him?

I can't think of many.

You think he averages 10 ypc on the season with a better offense?

He averaged 162 ypg in 2015 and 6.5 ypc. Those are video game numbers. However he was forced to play late in a lot of crap games he never would have if we had a better offense and more comfortable lead. abd your argument is fewer touches would have equaled more yards really?

Adrian Peterson rushed for 1925 yards in 2004 on 339 carries. That was with a good offense and defending heisman trophy winner at QB.

Agreed, Fournette is in the tier of backs such as Adrian Peterson and Barry Sanders. Very very few backs have reached their level of elite.

On the other hand, Guice, while solid in his own right, is in the tier of guys like Mark Ingram, Eddie Lacy or Devonte Freeman. Very good backs who will have a solid pro career. But won't exactly go down as a legend.

No one is hating on Fournette. We just recognize that Guice, when healthy has the potential to be every bit as good as Fournette. That doesn’t put shade on Fournette....it’s a complement for both
