Dawkins is the defendant in the court case, accused of essentially extorting schools in exchange for getting players to sign with them.

So, let us not forget this: what Wade was saying to Dawkins (again, known as "the defendant") on the wiretap was essentially, "Smart and his family know what we can offer. You are getting nothing, you slimy bastard."

Not sure that exonerates Wade, but it was certainly the right thing to tell Dawkins.

Coach Wades the hero and trying to put away a bad man. Instead of encouraging Coach Wade for whistleblowing the basketball world turns its knives on WW. They want business to proceed as usual.

Interesting. I wonder if this is why you keep saying the quote that coaches around college basketball think Will Wade is a slime ball.

" “Dude,” Wade continued to Dawkins, referring to the third party involved in the recruitment, “I went to him with a [expletive] strong-arse offer about a month ago. [Expletive] strong.

“The problem was, I know why he didn’t take it now, it was [expletive] tilted toward the family a little bit,” Wade continued. “It was tilted toward taking care of the mom, taking care of the kid. Like it was tilted towards that. Now I know for a fact he didn’t explain everything to the mom. I know now, he didn’t get enough of the piece of the pie in the deal.

Dawkins responded by saying, “Hmmmm.”

“It was a [expletive] hell of a [expletive] offer,” Wade continued. “Hell of an offer.” "

If you read that and think Wade was talking to someone who “represented” Smart, I don’t know what to tell you. You think Wade doesn’t know the difference between the pronouns “he” and “you?”

Dawkins is being accused of being a middleman.

Wade is saying he won't pay middlemen what they want.

So, I got some pronouns wrong. My point is still the same.

Is Wade saying he's paying the middleman less than he wants really a great defense?

There are two middlemen.

The one Wade is talking about and the one Wade is talking to.

Did you miss where the OP said “the context was essentially..”?

Try a little reading comprehension before asking for a link

First of all, frick Alleva and King. Let me make that clear. I've been wanting both to go for a while now.

Now to your OP, the "defendant" has been proven guilty, and is now convicted. Your context suggests the possibility of innocence, and there is none with Dawkins.

Your "essential" translation of the wiretap is just dumb. It really sounds like you haven't even read the transcript- at least I hope you haven't. Hard to imagine someone taking it this far out of context.

Not if it's in quotes arse face. Quotes means it's directly verbatim. Verbatim means as it is said or written.
