We might not be able to fire O "with cause" but it seems like we ought to be able to fire Alleva with cause for negotiating such a thing.

I swear this contract was put in place for Herman and then the name was Ctrl F’d to hell and back when he went to Texas.

That doesn’t mean we’re stuck with him. That just means it’ll be expensive as frick to get rid of him.

Orgeron misrepresented himself, claiming to be a football coach, that alone should make the contract null and void.

Is fraud in the inducement of a contract still a thing? I say we don't pay him a fricking dime of his buyout, let him sue us, and use fraud in the inducement of a contract as a defense. He stated all sorts of bullshite he knew was bullshite to get LSU to sign him to a deal.

Just mad and spitballing

Ugh, well hey, at least there's more buyout information, extra perks, and his LLC all in one nice little article...

There is nothing in there about the contract that we don't already know. I don't understand this thread

It goes on to note that getting fired because he didn’t win many games would cause Orgeron to “lose the salary, supplemental compensation, fringe benefits, certain other LSU-provided benefits, and possibly other income and benefits provided by third parties, which damages are impossible to determine with certainty.”

Honestly, though, I really wouldn't be surprised if Oregon is out if the team goes 5-7 or worse. We're 5 games in and the program is already burning to the ground.

A simple cost-benefit analysis would clearly show an enormous benefit to eating the buyout and bringing in someone who can properly restore this program to its former stature.

We would be firing O for cause. I would be because he's a terrible coach.

With hopefully a new AD in place and a really good hire already lined up to come in

This is contingent upon fans actually stopping their support of the team, which hopefully actually happens. The biggest thing will be empty seats, loss of concessions, etc. And optics. TS is already half empty by halftime.. it’ll look worse when it’s only half full for kickoff

Just glad the Troy loss is bringing national coverage to Alleva and resurfacing his mismanagement at Duke, including poor hires--one leading to a scandal--and the handling of the Duke lacrosse case.

I would certainly hope so. That doesn't excuse Alleva for bringing that pile of garbage to them.
