Florida Game 2016

I was looking back at 2016 stats when Ensminger was IOC. I remembered specifically about the 2016 game against Florida that the offense kept stalling out inside the redzone, so I was wondering whether it was bad playcalling or player errors.
1st stall out- Guice fumble at the 10 yard line. should've been AT LEAST a FG
2nd- Fournette stuffed at goal line. Fake FG attempt failed. should be FG at least.
3rd- 10 yard sack from the 5 yard line. FG made
4th- Guice goes wrong way on power toss and gets stuffed at goal line (would've score if he went the right way)
Now, I know that some of this can be blamed on playcalling, but frick ups by players (specifically Guice in that game) is what lost us that game. The point of this thread isn't to bring back the Florida game or bash Guice, but to say that ensminger actually did a pretty good job in 2016 without even being able to run his own offense-- even in one of his bad games against a good defense. (I also am aware that the Alabama game was horrible but I didn't go break that down yet)

Except for Alabama to be fair. Held to less than 200 yards.

Look, nobody wants CEO or CSE to do a poor job. People just feel like at a place like LSU, we shouldn’t have to rely on somebody whos positives are “it wasn’t really their fault so give them a chance” as opposed to having somebody that has proven skins on the wall.

This game to me should have killed any chance at O getting the job. We got an unexpected game at home with the sugar bowl on the line against a Florida team who was absolutely decimated by injuries and suspensions and blew it

quote:Lmao when will this rant meme end? Ensminger HAS skins. So I’d resort to hoping he fails rather than make that argument if I were you.

All he said was he preferred an OC with PROVEN skins.
That doesn’t translate into hoping he fails, like you wish it would.

La Tech, LSU, UGA, A&M, Clemson... it’s just an argument that doesn’t make sense.

1988 - 1998 2 years at 3 and 1 year at 1.
The game has changed in 20 years. You can’t deny that.
Will he be able to adapt and out coach SEC defensive coordinators? Who knows.
The debate over hiring a proven OC, “Best in the country” will be warrantes until he’s proven.
Doesn’t mean anyone wants him to fail. It’s a legit concern.
For me? I’m not concerned about anything anymore. I gave that shite up last week. I’m focused on rooting for my tigers Sunday. Players, coaches, the program, all that!

Remember that CEO has lost 6 games so far and two of them (UF and ND) are due to whiff tackles by Donte Jackson in the waning moments of the game. I like DJ so this is not a dump on DJ comment. Guice was playing for an injured Fournette. DJ was starting...
I do agree that Guice had the opportunity on that last play to join the Hester Society for RB's that stuck into UF dry.

Ensminger HAS skins
UGA #1 SEC offense... 4 Offensive records broken while OC in ‘16... Eric Zeier. Jason Campbell.

I’m sorry can you tell me which records he broke in 2016?
Against Missouri, Southern Miss and Ole Miss?
Zero points vs Alabama
10 vs Florida
....again will he be able to adapt and put coach SEC defensive coordinators? We don’t know.
2015 LSU scores more points, average more Ppg and we’re ranked higher in Scoring in the nation.
Not saying Cameron was good, but I think you’re pushing the Ensminger train too fast that it’s being derailed. In all fairness he did have to try and install a simple game plan on the fly in 2016, and even run more of Cams’s offense.
I’m eager to see his own style.
Just let it go and we’ll see how he does. I’m supporting him, so I’m debating with you not arguing

Missouri most yards vs. SEC opponent, single game rushing record (twice), longest run from scrimmage.

Cam Cameron was an NFL head coach, NFL OC and has a super bowl ring. He also set records at LSU. What does the rant think about him?

Right, Missouri, Southern Miss and Ole Miss.
and Fournette was prettt good. Had nothing to do with Ensminger when he was handed the ball.

Not doubting him. I don’t have enough to go on to celebrate him just yet.

You can try and make the facts known all you want about that game and there will be people who will still think he did a bad job in that game. They harp on the 10 points and can't really "see" the game and realize the players f'ed up in that game. Jackson getting burnt for a 96 yarder(would have been burnt for another big play had the qb not overthrown the wr) along with a missed fg (30+ yd.) and the mishaps you mentioned.
I've tried to make people understand that game wasn't on SE. If I remember right, 430 +/- some yards, 50% on third downs. This game shouldn't have even been close. SE put the players in position to win that game and they didn't fully execute. You can also blame O for not having the players fully focused for what was at stake. I'm not trying to insinuate that he's our offensive savior, just pointing out that Florida game wasn't on him. Bama game is a different story.
