I didn't get to watch the meet, but with two powerhouse programs battling are we to believe the Gators throw away floor score was better than all but one LSU floor score?

Why were Kiya and Haleigh so far off their usual incredible scores?

How many deductions were "overlooked " during Chomp Chomp floor time?

Enjoy it now , Gator nation, April is looming.

Haleigh hurt her foot again in floor, if not LSU would have been closer.

It like the judges knew ahead of time who was going to win the meet.

Yep. It is always a conspiracy against our tigers.
And those announcers were terrible.

I genuinely do care about all Tigers teams, even if I don't follow some sports, like this one, closely. But I just can't get into any competition that involves subjective scoring.

It's bad enough that refs make subjective calls in all sports, but to have every single thing you do, be subject to some imaginary point system by a panel of judges, is just not even real to me. Sometimes, there is an obvious difference between the two teams' performances; but when it's close, it's like watching a script that you hope was written in your favor.

I actually watched the 2nd half of this meet. LSU had some mistakes on floor that could have given them a lead going into the final rotation. As one stated, an injury was part of that, although it wasn’t the sole reason they outperformed us. Their floor performances were near flawless across the board. Hated to see them lose, but Florida dominated on floor last night so hats off to them!

Agreed, it was a great meet. Florida was great on floor, but every home meet favors the home team. LSU probably got slightly over scored last week at home vs Auburn.

I did think Florida was scored a bit too high on beam though. The one girl wrapped her arms around the beam to not fall with her foot almost hitting the ground and they scored her like 9.750 or higher. Seems like that wasn’t a large enough deduction

But, I have no idea how scoring works. Just seems high for an error or that magnitude other than falling off completely

I am not questioning whether Florida won the meet. They may have prevailed even with lower floor scores. The discrepancy last night, though is seldom seen between two high level programs like these. Florida had a 10.0 and two 9.975 floor scores so one judge handed out three 10.0 scores. All six scores were 9.9 or better. Meanwhile LSU had three scores below 9.9, including their two super stars. I understand if Haleigh had an injury which threw off her routine. Why was Kiya so far off her norm?

It is impossible to remove the subjectivity from scoring in gymnastics. No doubt the judges are influenced by a roaring home crowd when a gymnast has an outstanding performance. I would also agree that if the Auburn meet was in Auburn and last night in Baton Rouge LSU might still be 1-1. I have developed a better understanding of gymnastic scoring over the last 10 years, but admit I don't always see some of the nuances which some of the more knowledgable on this board readily observe. However, despite all of their star power after three rotations an injury riddled LSU team was dead even. Then all of a sudden it became a runaway. I will accept the opinion of those with more insight, but it just seems to be a greater divide than it should be.

I still believe come post season LSU will be firing on all cylinders if healthy and Florida will do their usual disappearing act. They definitely ain't getting a 49.8 floor score.

As a father of two girls we’ve been to and watch many a gym meet and not saying you’re dead wrong. But if you watch enough you can see the mistakes. Now are there times you’re like WTF of course but not as many as you think.

That was the first thing I noticed. On an away meet, your score really is the only thing that matters though, and LSU improved their score from last week. That's the takeaway.

The announcers said it was something like greatest in program history. Everyone getting on Sami for falling off the beam but really none of that matters. No way the judges were allowing LSU to win that meet. But its all good because LSU had a really good score and improved from last week. LSU just needs to be doing their best gymnastics at the end of the year. All they need to focus on.

I already said sometimes there is an obvious difference between the two teams' performances. The fact that some mistakes are obvious has nothing to do with the fact that the scoring is 100% subjective. Who can tell, right down to the 10th of a point, how one mistake is more egregious than another? And who can tell, down to the 10th of a point, which floor routine was better than another, when there are no obvious mistakes? It's all opinion based. It's not objective.
