That field was a dumpster fire. Rubber flying everywhere, slipping on all cuts. Non-contact injuries on cuts. Mercedes Dome should be embarrassed and that is the so-called “industry leader”.

We got lucky coming out of there with no big injuries.

UGA was not so lucky - hope the best for those guys.

Said the same since the first quarter. What was the deal there?

Surely has to be fixed today - right ?

And we may have to play on that train wreck again.

I know nothing about turf but is it possible it was made worse by adding more rubber to it before the game? Just wondering out loud and I am probably very wrong about it but who knows.

Can’t be fixed. Low face weight turf that is overfilled with rubber. Pitiful design.

I think that's exactly what they did

You can add or remove them based on how it feels .

Surely they can vacuum some of it to make it more stable.

Pellets

My school was one of the first to have a field like that . I know you can add or remove the pellets based on feel or even to clean them.

That said -is the field always like that for other games this year ? ? Maybe need longer cleats if so

It just seems possible because UGA said ahead of time that they wanted to force LSU to beat them through the air by stopping the run game. CHE would be neutralized by a turf that doesn’t allow for those spin moves. Just a thought I had during the game.

Yep, infill is not your friend. It moves on contact and is inbound creating real footing issues. Grass fiber is what creates stability.

It absolutely had an impact on Clydes ability to cut. After a couple of slips I noticed him and others become a little hesitant not trusting the field. That’s not good when players have to think about the surface.

The field is typically fine so I’m not sure what the deal was. Kinda think we may be overreacting based off a couple freak plays

No wonder Julio is always on the DL.

There was a lot of sliding going on. The field definitely seemed like a problem to me.

It's probably chopped up German Continental Tires.

What’s the model of that turf compared to the Fiesta Bowl, Superdome, Ole Miss, Vandy, etc?

I don’t believe it is an overreaction. When players slid there was a lot more visible pellets than I have noticed on similar fields. I am not saying it was intentionally done to seek an advantage. Just seemed to see a bigger spray of black.

I hope O is asked about it.

None of those listed have Fieldturf.
