6-year contract extension valued at more than $42 million in total

I know he needed an extension, and he definitely deserved one, but damn that's a lot of money for a long time. I'd be nervous about giving any coach that amount. And does that amount take away from his ability to hire top notch coordinators and analysts.

My concern is if this year was just made special by Burrow and the talent around him. Do we go back to being the 3 or 4 loss team from O's first couple of years here? That's a lot of money for 3 losses a year. That said, he has accumulated some nice talent. He just has to continue to develop it and win and the contract will be worth it if that can be done.

this is one of the dumbest ways to view things

"those people think this and I don't like those people, so even though I agree with them on this, I can't believe what I believe because those people I don't like think the same on this one topic"

so fricking dumb

That list is not updated, Dabo makes 9 million a year and is ranked number one.

Contrarian logic 101. You just showed us your hand. If this is your mindset, then you are a contrarian plain and simple.

Do you not think our AD is capable of more than one task over the course of his day?

Why people are mad about this? Only coach that deserves to be paid higher than O is Saban.

I'd be willing to bet that the money LSU is making from the sale of LSU related products, starting at mid-season & on going, helps to reduce the cost of this contract more than a little. And as noted, the new TV money each school will receive is a nice, new pile of money. With ticket prices going up, too, this is chump change. Saban's success has brought in, literally, 100's of millions of dollars to bama per stats released by the university.

No doubt that CEO earned a substantial raise not just for the results this year but also for the positive results the last few years. CEO absolutely deserves to be one of the highest paid coaches.

The problem is not LSU paying the market rate . . . it’s that the market rate has doubled in the last 10 years. I can appreciate the pressure cooker those guys work in, but $7MM - $8MM per year is a stupid market rate for the work actually performed.

It won’t happen, but there should be a cap for all coaches at $5MM/year and then build in some result oriented bonuses. The shite is getting out of control.

“Contrarian??”

No it’s called self awareness. When idiots align next to me, it makes me want to take a look at my thought process.

But go ahead with your “conforming”

He will earn it this season. 7 mil a year is too much. We will find out if he’s worth it this coming season

What should O's contract look like in your opinion?

LSU (TAF) has the money to pay for it, with tens of millions per year to spare.

I know right!! Lol at Jimbo who never won anything without a generational Heisman QB making that kind of money!!

Oh wait....

why do you continue to compare contracts not directly after national championship seasons?

Historical perspective has no place in contract negotiations!!

Recency bias only pleas and thank you!!

I own a business. I have not been on another man’s payroll since August of 2005. Here are your critical errors- you are making statements based on incomplete information, you do not know what you do not know, you are being unnecessarily negative, you are stating opinions as if they are facts, and you are insulting people who disagree with you .

All in all, a very poor showing on a day any Tiger fan should be celebratory and grateful.

Puts him almost $2 million below Dabo and Saban, $500k below Harbaugh and Fisher (LOL) and above Smart, Malzhan, and Herman.

Sounds about right to me. Could even argue we got a discount.
My concern is more the length of it than amount per year.
