a lot of shrimp boats can be bought now !!!
Frankly, I do not like the way coaches are paid.
Last year Coach O was paid a base + bonuses based on performances.
ALL coaches should be paid that way, but Jimmy Sexton has a monopoly.
Until that changes, it would be unfair to pay Coach O less, or differently.
Pay the man.

I can’t even fathom LSU wanting to fire our coach in that short of time.
This fanbase turned on Les in less time than O’s current contract. It’s not without its risks.
I like the deal all the same, it protects us from having him poached by USC, and I fully believe he can deliver again.

needs a base salary plus money for incentives.
Coaches from SEC are telling recruits it was a one hit wonder at LSU.
Orgeron loses 4 games next year, he's toast. He needs to hire top notch assistants.

Congrats to Coach O. He earned that contract

Poached by USC?
No USC AD could survive hiring Ed, even at this point of his career. There were very good reasons(and huge support among players) to hire him when he was interim HC, but the SC moneyed class considered Ed as several rings below social acceptability. They still do.
Just b/c LSU fans don't ascribe to the "lightning in a bottle" theory, doesn't mean it doesn't exist elsewhere.

That's rediculous.... Who comes up with numbers like that.
Pay the man an even $800.00 per hour....

Les was also 9 years removed from winning a National Championship and 5 years removed from playing in one of the most embarrassing loses in a championship game of all time.
Had Miles won the championship in 2011 I think it would have bought him a few more years.

Well deserved. He has more than earned every penny.

You really do have the IQ or an acorn. Stop reciting dumb shite that isn’t true, please.
You just admitted that what I said was accurate.
I said not one SEC team would have hired Ed Orgeron this year. You agreed to this and even provided evidence to support my claim.

Name one sec school that needs a coach that can afford $5mil right now
That was my point. This whole thing started because YOU made the claim that LSU had no leverage. I provided evidence to the contrary by simply asking “where else is he going to go”. If no one else is offering (that he would take) then how exactly does he have “all the leverage”?
Once again, your lack of logic and reasoning skills have bit you in the arse.
You have a choice here. You can continue to look like a fool (much like you did with Will Wade several months ago) or you can save what little dignity you have left and just walk away from this discussion becausse you are clearly not prepared for it.

Very well deserved.

What is the deal with all these pencil dick negative motherfrickers busting up in this thread to shite all over Coach O and his raise? Is it jealousy? Is it being such a loser that you need negative attention?
Coach O deserves this raise, plain and simple. I'm happy for him and his family.

The teams that hired coaches could not afford him.
Your point is crap.
You do realize there are only 3-4 schools in the country that are a step up from LSU, right?
And maybe 8-12 total that could even afford him at this point, right?
And you over here talmbout Old miss & miss st. Lol u clown
Re: Will wade- the NCAA is still snooping around per VolTiger. I wouldn’t exactly pound your chest on that one

But I have to be a little contrarian here. Orgeron was hired to have a head coach making a smaller salary so that the coordinators could be paid top notch. And that obviously worked well. Will we still do that?
From a pure business standpoint >$7M/yr was not necessary. CEO was not going anywhere.
As long as CEO's comp pkg does not impact pay for assistants and analysts, it is a wonderful reward for a great job. If did limit other hires (I am assuming it won't), it was a poor business decision.

Still less than Jimbo (7.5). Now THAT is overpaying!
Keep in mind that the upcoming TV deal w/ ESPN pays far more than the CBS deal, which was considered below market value. LSU will have the money to pay O and still pay assistants what they deserve.
