Did you happen to read the rest of the post and my subsequent posts that LE hid to try to make his point that directly contradict what he claimed I said??

Why don’t you tell me? I have no idea and neither do you.

Don’t care if he was in high school. That means absolutely nothing

It means he had nothing to do with their success.

Every coach has their own story & you want to pigeon hole him into being billy Gonzales. It’s lazy & there’s no connection whatsoever

Gonzales was hired as a passing game coordinator from a very successful system. No connection

You were the one that brought up how it looks “on paper”.

I’m simply saying that doesn’t mean much.

We’ll have to wait and see to judge the hire.

I know that drives you nuts Les, but just hand in there

I’ll hang up and listen

Well, we know you used to post 100’s of times threads relating to bashing the direction & leadership of this program

Then the coach you ragged for the last 3 years competes the best season in CFB history

And all of a sudden you are no where to be found

Now you just post 100’s of times in Big Brother threads. And you over here calling people nerds lmao

Where else is he going?

Depends on who's willing to pay, obviously.

He has ties to USC and Miami, and if either was serious about elevating their programs, Orgeron would be a reasonable target. [quote]Not too far away, I don't think. Maybe 1-2 more years, so maybe 8 mill buyout is all.

That ain't shite if you hire the guy you want.

Orgeron was a bargain hire, kinda like an NFL team choosing to go with a draft prospect instead of a vet on a higher contract. It's a value move at the time, but if it works out, you have to expect the following contract to go up.

You can’t. Why? Because there isn’t a single one that would and you know it.

Name one sec school that needs a coach that can afford $5mil right now

You can’t. Why? Because they all just hired coaches within the last 3 years and have all been relatively successful

You really do have the IQ or an acorn. Stop reciting dumb shite that isn’t true, please.

You will be told that it’s because “dream job blah blah blah”, but the reality is, most outside of LSU believe this is a lightning in a bottle season. Again, before I get called a “negatiger” or whatever other bullshite people get called for bringing anything remotely negative up, I do not agree with them, but that IS the perception. I fully support this extension and raise.

Coach O is getting LESS than Jimbo. Texas A&M would gladly justify this if Jimbo were to give them ONE season like O just had. O delivered, big-time. Pay him.

I posted the same as I usually do this season all very happy with the season, O, and obviously Burrow

They didn't want him because he didn't sound like them.

Most of you didn't want him because of Ole Miss and a binder.

You all look like fricking idiots now.

This couldn't have happened to a more deserving coach.

Orgeron was hired to have a head coach making a smaller salary so that the coordinators could be paid top notch. And that obviously worked well. Will we still do that?

My guess would be no.

Are ppl really complaining that we made our coach the 5th highest paid in the country after authoring the greatest season in the history of college football?? He's still cheaper and has a shorter deal than Jimbo.. think about that

He'll be the 10th highest a few years from now, this is a good deal for LSU

I can’t even fathom LSU wanting to fire our coach in that short of time. We just won the natty and the recruiting is on fire. 6 years is fine here. If after a few years of going 11-2, 10-3 we start to see 9 and 8 win seasons, then guess there will be some grumbling, but a fresh natty always gives you a few years to rebuild, especially when you lose so much to the nfl and coaches too.

This is absolutely well deserved. He has gotten better every year he has been here, and delivered on a NC in his 3rd full year. I don't see how you don't pay the man after the season we just had.

I will not lie, part of me is just a tiny tiny bit skeptical. One could argue that our success was largely due to Aranda, Brady, and Burrow. All of which are gone now.
While I do not believe that Coach O is on the level of a Saban, Meyer, or Dabo.

This upcoming season will be very interesting, and really a defining moment in Coach O's career. We just had one of the best college football players ever lead us to one of the best seasons ever. How we follow up last season is largely on O. Next season is where we found out if last season was a flukr that happened solely because of Burrow, or if Coach is also truly the real deal as a coach.

I'm not naive enough to think that Coach O will have us in the playoffs and NC every year for the next 6 years. But I absolutely believe he can give us 10-13 wins a year. 9 wins may happen once in a very down year. But we bounce back the next season.

It's not overstated. There is most certainly a budget. Now, could that budget have changed based on the decision to reward Orgeron? Of course. And, if that's the case, then the only real risk here is the buyout clause.

Sure, there’s a budget. But for the last few years it’s been significantly lower than our peers’ budgets.

My point was that no matter how you look at it - win totals, football revenue, championships, whatever - we are spending significantly less than other teams in our neighborhood. So the whole “omg we can’t pay coordinators now” narrative is silly.

Our total coaching budget was around $10 million last year. Clemson’s total coaching budget is $17 million. With Aranda/Brady gone, Orgeron’s extension, and other assistant pay raises we are back up to around $10 million with a couple of positions (including DC/PGC) left to fill.

I’m not saying we should go spend another $7 million on coordinators for shits and giggles, but we can pay what it takes to get the right guys.

I do agree that the buyout clause is the real risk.
