Meat Market 2.0?

quote:

At 7:10 a.m., LSU gets a jolt of good news. Dennis “Meatball” Johnson, the Tigers’ young outside linebackers coach, tells Orgeron he just got a text from Chaisson. “He said, ‘I’m coming. No doubt.’”

“WOOHOOOO!” Orgeron shouts as his face lights up before giving Johnson a big fist bump.

“WAY TO GO, MEATBALL!”

Posted this on the Recruiting board, but figured I'd put it here. Good read.

The halls on the first floor used to be covered with pictures of former Tigers in the NFL, but as soon as Ed Orgeron was named the interim head coach after Les Miles was canned in late September, he replaced them with team photos of every LSU conference and national championship team in the school’s rich history. Some inside the LSU program believe that Miles didn’t want these old championship photos up because a few of them contained his predecessor, Nick Saban, who has since turned Alabama into the sport’s resident super power.

“Ed doesn’t worry about any of that B.S.,” says one of the staffers. “It’s all about having the right mindset.” As in “one team, one heartbeat” — Orgeron’s mantra.

Miles with that Saban insecurity. Must post on the rant.

Some inside the program? That is a great way to put it. Some (who?) Another deep double secret sauce?

Much of the 15-minute discussion surrounds how to best handle the next two days with each prospect, but in the case of two linebackers, the intel does not bode well for LSU. Like when Aranda tells Orgeron he thinks Brooks is going to go to Penn State, or when offensive line coach Jeff Grimes mentions that a Tiger commit sent him a text earlier in the morning that Gay said he sounded like he wasn’t coming, telling the fellow recruit, “I don’t think I can do this.”

Linebacker is the biggest need LSU has for the class of 2017. Orgeron says Aranda pointed out to him that LSU has more kickers on scholarship than linebackers, “and we’ve got to get that fixed.”

That is a huge complimentary article and you pick the one line that is unfavorable to Les Miles.

Way to go.

Now that you have wet your panties over that line you are excused to go home and change.

Responding to Orgeron’s prodding, his staff seems to bring him their cell phones every three minutes with a different high school coach or player on the other end. “I want you to holler at Coach O…”

“WHADDAYASAY!”

Orgeron is good at small talk. Usually it’s about food, often gumbo. His recall of their film, or coaches or past players from that area is uncanny. Any way to make an instant connection is invaluable at fostering a relationship and standing out from the herd. It also doesn’t hurt that he has personally recruited or developed 14 defensive linemen who have gone on to become first-round picks.

The constant theme since O took over is how he's changed the environment around the team, embraced the history. Inviting old players back was his first big step. I'm sorry if that rains all over your Les parade. Happy for what he did but glad he's gone.

The entire article is filled with positives. Yet you decide to pull out the single negative line. I'm sorry that anything positive rankles you to the point that you have to search for the negative. Too bad you couldn't just celebrate the success that Orgeron is having. I'm sorry that you have to direct your parade toward some insignificant unsubstantiated comment about Les Miles to make your day.

The fact that what I wrote went entirely over your head is no surprise.

Out of a large and hugely complimentary article about LSU's head football coach, some of you focus on the single line about LSU's former head football coach.

Why not concentrate on the positive, Nancy? Let's celebrate the good things Orgeron is doing and the positive press he is generating.

Orgeron wasn’t the first one in the building this morning. Derek Ponamsky arrived 45 minutes earlier to get a quick workout in.

Why don't you de-sand your vag and stop focusing on that one post.

Why don't you grow up and try to have an adult conversation? "Must post on the rant" sounds like a teen aged girl that saw her best friend's boy friend kissing another girl and she can't wait to tell everybody about it.

Feldman is has written a book about Orgeron. You should read it. It is no surprise that he likes Orgeron (apparently) and admires his recruiting prowess so a positive article comes as no surprise. You had a huge stream of words that you could have " told the rant about" yet you focus on the negative. You could have chosen any number of quotes that point out the good. You didn't.

That says a lot.

Good god, do you ever stop bitching? During Miles' tenure, it was about how terrible the fans are, now you're complaining because he posted something interesting from the article about changes that were made"

Go get a hobby. You and Beefense flip your shite anytime someone posts something you don't think should be said.

I'm all for positivity, but all your "positivity" is, is complaining.
