"IF" fans are allowed and nothing has changed between now and Oct 3rd and the Vandy game is a go, can anyone give me and my son (10 years old) some tailgating tips, restaurants, hotels?

I have been taking my son to 1 SEC away game every year the past 3 years. Due to my work schedule I had to miss the vandy game last year. I always try and catch the SEC East rotational away game so we can knock out those first.

I appreciate any help in making this trip more enjoyable for both of us. TIA

Lucky for you Hotels are about 60% of what they've been in Nashville right now with COVID going on. Just all depends on what your budget is. But, for example, I just booked my parents a night at the Hermitage for their 60th birthdays for like $300. That room is usually about twice that much, as it's the nicest hotel in town. Tailgating in Vandy isn't much of a thing like it is at LSU but last year there were clusters of LSU tailgates in the lots throughout campus. There are a bunch of restaurants in midtown right by Vandy (walking distance).

What exactly isn't open right now? I have friends thinking about trying to go as well. I'm just worried everything will be dead pre-game.

To my knowledge, nothing is closed right now. There's a mask mandate in effect in Davidson and Williamson Counties. I believe Davidson (Nashville) County has some capacity restrictions for restaurants/bars, but all I see lately is the news reporting no one is adhering to them. I wouldn't bank on things being as lively if you do come because it's definitely not the same as it was pre-COVID but things like restaurants are open, but I do believe they must close by 10 PM. As you know, the situation is fluid and I wouldn't count on things staying the same a month and a half from now. May be better, may be worse.

Restaurants around campus were open when I was there two weeks ago. Lots of good places to eat. Masks required

Thanks for the info I'll pass it along! Sounds more promising than I thought. I wish the virus didn't spread after 10 PM but I can work with that.

if there's an SEC school that won't allow attendance, it's probably Vandy

Get tickets on the Vandy side. You will be social distancing whether you want to or not.
We stayed downtown and walked to the game. Pretty campus.
Vandy is not like an SEC school. We bought sandwiches from a place right across the street from campus. We were decked out in purple and gold. The students working there had no idea—-NONE— that there was a game on campus that afternoon.

I have basically given up on trying to tailgate at away games Unless I have a contact that is from that school. You’re much better off finding a decent restaurant or bar to spend your time in

"Vandy is not like an SEC school." That is the understatement of the decade.

Vandy is a huge hospital/medical research complex with a little university attached to it.

Little known fact, you only play Vandy in baseball. All other sports you are actually playing Peabody.

Holiday Inn right next to stadium, walk to game. We took ova the stadium last year, LSU tailgates right across street from stadium. Like a home game.

We stayed outside of town with 4 kids to save money.
But you ain't lying about the Holiday Inn. We walked over to the Local after the game to see a friend playing music. Then took the kids to Ted's Montana Steakhouse right by there. Was a good time all around there within walking distance.
And that Holiday Inn was definitely the place to be for LSU fans.

Down vote hiding in the basement. Figures.

Vandy saved my daughter’s life. 15 minutes left. I hope they kick your arse. How’s that down voter? If the game is played, but I know they won’t, but there’s always hope. I know from experience.

Honestly, this is probably the best trip for you to do this year. Never been to a Vandy game myself (though really like Nashville), but I think it will be the easiest road game ticket to score this year through re-sale. I don't expect LSU to get much of an allotment if any, but Stubhub will probably have many.

Went last year, LSU fans were maybe 75% of the crowd, maybe more.

Let’s say Vandy allows 20,000 for total attendance. My guess is that LSU will get 3000–5000 tickets. Not sure if any will go to season ticket holders. Where do you plan to get tickets from? Has anyone in the SEC said how many people they will allow yet?? I’m not trying to be negative. I just want to know where to look for away game tickets.
